For Jordan Fiegen, a kind woman from South Dakota, a cold March morning seemed like an ordinary day without the hint of surprise waiting ahead.
However, when she spotted a strange-looking crate in a trailer park in the vicinity of her parents’ house, she knew that something was off and rushed to examine it.
Once she discovered its contents, she felt devastated. Seven little puppies curled up in the crate were shaking with cold.
Since it was raining the previous night, the crate became filled with muddy water, and the puppies’ white fur became dirty.
Fiegen was relieved because all the puppies survived, and she was committed to helping them.
Puppies Feel Relieved
She was convinced that the furbabies lost hope of being rescued because they didn’t cry for help. They were completely silent, and they probably prepared for the inevitable.
The woman knew that she had no time to waste. It was freezing, and the puppies needed a warm place to stay.
Fiegen found out that the puppies’ mother was a neglected doggo who lived with her owner in the trailer park.
She tried to let the owner know about the furbabies, but she couldn’t find them.
Later on, Fiegen talked to the owner, who decided to surrender the puppies.
The giant-hearted woman collected the pups and took them inside. She and her family gave them a bath and tried to keep them warm.
Once the puppies were cleaned up, they looked totally different. They had gorgeous, snowy-white fur.
After the bath, the furballs fell asleep. They were very tired and needed rest.
A wave of relief washed over Fiegen because the puppies were safe and sound at last.
Thriving In Foster Homes
She couldn’t help crying as she imagined the suffering they had endured before she found them.
“I just sobbed over them not knowing what they just went through,” Fiegen told The Dodo.
Fiegen contacted Almost Home Canine Rescue in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and they agreed to take the pups into their care.
When the puppies felt better, Fiegen took them to the vet, who examined them, gave them flea treatment, and a dewormer.
The seven furbabies, named Bert, Bluey, Ernie, Bingo, Bear, Nova, and Kona were placed in the care of three different foster families.
Their caretakers showered them with love, and within weeks, the puppies changed completely and showed their true personalities.
“They are all very playful. They definitely came out of their shells after they were all bundling together and barely showing signs of life,” Fiegen added.
The puppies continue flourishing in foster homes and will soon start searching for their forever families.
