New Jersey Woman Who Adopted Labrador Mix Puppy Shocked After Receiving Her Dog’s DNA Test Results

At the end of the day, how important is your dog’s breed to you? Sure, it’s tempting to consider it in the beginning, especially when you have a certain preference.

But then, you fall in love – and everything else becomes irrelevant. He’s the goodest boi, and that’s the most important trait that will ever matter to you. Right?

Still, it’s nice to confirm your dog’s ancestry, especially if you have some doubts or have never taken a proper DNA test.

Alexus Bird, a woman from New Jersey, recently decided to test her Labrador mix’s heritage. What she discovered in the results was quite shocking!

He’s Not Labrador At All

Kona, previously named Camper, was just a little baby when he first encountered Alexus, his new mom. He was adopted from the New Jersey rescue organization as a black Labrador mix who likely had a Golden Retriever mom.

However, at 35 pounds and only six months of age, Kona didn’t exactly look like a Labrador. He had a longer coat and appeared to be slightly bigger than anyone expected at that age, which made Alexus and the family wonder.

They decided to subject Kona to a DNA test – and the results were quite shocking!

“I can guarantee no one will get it 100% right,” Alexus wrote in a TikTok video.

As it turned out, Kona was not a Labrador mix at all! He was mainly a Golden Retriever (over fifty percent). He also had Siberian Husky, American Bully, and American Pit Bull Terrier ancestry in him. So unbelievable!

Kona’s DNA results soon took everyone by surprise. The video his mom posted on TikTok went viral in no time, and the comments were as heartwarming as they could be!

“As a vet student, I can confirm his breed is Very Good Boy,” one commenter wrote.

“Hmm according to my calculations he is 100% baby,” another added.

“Idk what he is but I love how he lets you flip him around and is still a puppy, that dog has got the best manners I’ve ever seen from a puppy,” the third commented.

Although Kona was, in fact, the total opposite of a Labrador, his followers didn’t mind! And, neither did his momma. After all, he was a good boi, and that was the only thing that mattered!

The Biggest Lovebug

One thing is for sure: Kona is definitely the epitome of the perfect companion. He’s practically a fluffy cuddlebug trapped in a big dog’s body, which makes him even cuter.

Kona loves to socialize with other people and dogs, enjoys cuddle sessions with his family, and makes the ideal companion on walkies.

When he’s not getting everyone confused about his original breed, Kona is simply enjoying being around his loved ones, living his happy little life. And, who knows – by the time he grows up, maybe he’ll leave us stunned with another surprise up his sleeve!
