The residents in western Kentucky were struck with catastrophic floods caused by torrential rain.
Sadly, the natural disaster not only brought havoc and chaos to the area but also claimed lives.
During this difficult period, heartfelt stories of compassion and kindness started emerging and filling our hearts with gratitude.
One such story comes from the city of Paducah, which was severely affected by flooding.
Taylor Colley, Josh Newsome, and Micah Joiner, linemen for the Jackson Purchase Energy Corporation, were assigned with the task of disconnecting electricity from flooded power lines.
While the crew traveled the area by boat, a strange sight caught their attention and stopped them in their tracks.
Feeling Helpless And Terrified

There was a tiny creature on a floating log, looking terrified. Once the crew approached, they realized that it was a wild rabbit that was barely holding on.
It seemed as if he had completely lost hope in his rescue.
Colley and his colleagues knew that his life was in danger. The water was moving fast, and they had to take action right away.
“That’s not at all what you expect to see on a floating log in the water. We knew the chances of him surviving were very bleak if we didn’t help him,” Colley told The Dodo.
As the crew approached the rabbit, he didn’t try to hop from the downed tree he was on. Although he was still a bit worried, the rabbit seemed to know that the humans were coming to his rescue.
The Rabbit Is Safe And Sound

The good humans scooped him from the log and got him on the boat with them.
Before long, the rabbit realized that he was safe and calmed down.
The kind-hearted linemen rushed him to the closest dry spot and let him go.
The rabbit went about his business, feeling happy because good people saved him when he almost gave up on himself.
The team was glad to have given the rabbit a new chance at life. Leaving him stranded was never an option.

“We simply knew we couldn’t pass by him without trying to save him. We were all thankful that, between our own safety, teamwork and good morals, we were able to give the rabbit a chance to have a less ‘dampened’ future,” Colley added.
This story serves as an example of how we should act whenever we have an opportunity to rescue any helpless living being.
Thank you to all rescue teams and good humans who are helping everyone affected by the natural disaster. Your compassion and kindness are greatly appreciated.
