Sometimes, being in the right place at the right time can make all the difference.
Sebastian Bushey, a construction worker from Clarkson, Washington, was wrapping up his shift by the Grande Ronde River when something unusual on the roadside caught his attention. What he discovered would leave him astonished.
The Shocking Discovery Of Abandoned Puppies

At first, Sebastian noticed just one tiny puppy lying by the road, struggling in the intense 105° heatwave.
Heartbroken by the sight, he approached the puppy, only to witness a surprising turn of events.
“I was shocked to see one puppy out there, just one itself, but when I called the puppy up to me, six more came out of the bushes. I was in awe,” Sebastian told KLEW TV.
One by one, six more puppies appeared, turning one lonely pup into seven. It was as though the first pup had acted as a decoy, testing the safety of the area before the others revealed themselves.
Determined To Help, Sebastian Acts Fast
Wanting to ensure there were no other animals in danger, a local rancher joined Sebastian to search the area for any other dogs or even a possible mother. However, after an extensive search, they found no sign of any adults.
“There’s not anyone around for miles, so they were obviously dumped by somebody,” Sebastian said.
Clearly upset by the thought of the puppies being abandoned in such harsh conditions, Sebastian knew he couldn’t leave them behind.
The pups, still timid and nervous, seemed to rely on the bush for shade and safety.

“The puppies seemed very timid and nervous to come towards me… because the bush was the only shade they had around them,” he explained.
After carefully gathering all seven puppies, Sebastian loaded them into his car and headed home to care for them.
A Selfless Act Of Kindness

Sebastian didn’t stop there. Recognizing how rare this moment was, he recorded the entire rescue and posted the video on Facebook, directed at the person who had abandoned the puppies.
The video quickly went viral, with people around the world praising Sebastian for his quick thinking and selflessness.
The puppies, dehydrated and hungry, were given food and water before Sebastian took them to the Lewis Clark Animal Shelter in Lewiston, Idaho, where they could receive proper care.
The shelter staff treated them for dehydration, gave them flea treatments, spayed or neutered them, and provided their first vaccinations.
“They have all been named words that mean ‘river,’ since I found them next to the Grande Ronde River,” Sebastian said.
In addition to rescuing the pups, Sebastian set up a donation page with help from a friend, raising thousands of dollars to support the shelter’s efforts.
“Doesn’t take too long out of your day to do something nice. If you’re put in the right position, then you should do the right thing,” he said.

One of the puppies was adopted by Sebastian’s close friend, while the remaining six found homes through the shelter.
Thanks to Sebastian’s quick thinking and compassion, seven lives were saved, and these puppies now have the chance at a bright future.
