Helping out animals is one of the most noble things we can do. Even if you are not actively searching to do it, just reacting when it’s necessary is more than enough.
Too often are people filled with apathy toward animals, and it’s one of the many reasons why there are still so many strays on the street.
And let’s not even talk about the fact that most people won’t even bother to help out wild animals because of the simple reason that they are not our pets.
I think it’s important that we do our best to help wherever we can. These small acts of kindness can change an animal’s life forever, even when you think it doesn’t, and it feels amazing when you do it.
Shocking Sight

It was an ordinary morning for Joni Hart, who just decided to take a walk in Illinois with her two dogs, Dixie and Trigger. They were enjoying themselves when something happened that no one expected.
Dixie stepped off the path because she noticed something unusual. Considering that she was a curious dog, this came as no surprise to Hart.
However, when she pulled the leash, Hart wouldn’t move at all. She kept looking at something on the ground and then back at her mom, as if trying to give her some information.

Hart eventually went to have a look, and what she saw stunned her completely. There was a tiny fawn trapped in a hole in the ground.
In a moment, Hart looked around, but couldn’t find the fawn’s mother, so she knew that she needed to react quickly.
First, she took her dogs home and then went back to the location where the animal was stuck. When she came back, she saw the mother hiding behind a tree.
A Happy Ending For The Fawn

It was clear that she was scared of other humans, so she didn’t try to approach her. Hart called Chilo, who was a friend and had experience with rescuing wildlife animals.
He carefully placed a rope around the fawn and gently pulled her up. Everything went smoothly, and the fawn ran back into the wilderness to reunite with its mother.
Later that night, the neighbors actually spotted the two wild animals roaming around the area, and Hart couldn’t have been happier that everything turned out great in the end.

She is also really proud of her dog, Dixie, who spotted the fawn and tried to alert her mom to its presence. Who knows how things would have turned out if she had gone about her way.
Hart told The Dodo: “Dixie is very clever. She loves to open doors and come visit you in the bathroom and shower. I also love it when I’m sitting on the couch and she comes running into the room and pounces on a toy and throws it up in the air, showing me that she is ready to play.”
Considering that Dixie was actually rescued from a shelter in Illinois, it’s absolutely heartwarming to see the amazing relationship Hart has with her and Trigger.
This led to the amazing rescue in the end, and now a fawn gets to continue its life because of Dixie’s quick thinking.
