It was an ordinary day for rescuers from Street Paws Rescue, when they received a report about a group of five puppies dumped on the street.
Nobody really had many details, but they knew that something had to be done, so a rescuer named Eli volunteered to help.
Just as she received the information about the puppies and where they were, she immediately rushed to their location in order to help.
A Heartbreak For Eli
When Eli finally arrived on the scene, she immediately saw how scared the puppies were. They were hiding from her because they didn’t know she wanted to help.
They were cruelly separated from their mom and didn’t know what to do. All they had was each other and that had to be enough.
But, they couldn’t survive on their own. Luckily, Eli was there to help and she wasn’t going to give up on them.
Eli told The Dodo: “Once I saw those tiny puppies being forced to be away from their mother, my heart completely broke and I had a meltdown.”
Once she regained her composure, she did her best to help all the puppies. She was able to catch all of them and place them in a crate.
After that, she took them back to her home. The puppies looked confused on their drive, but there was a small look of hope in their eyes.
When they arrived, Eli opened the crate door and let them wander around. They were hesitant, as expected, but quickly realized that this woman meant them no harm.
She said: “I think it’s the first time they’ve seen the inside of a house.”
They Are So Different Now
Because they spent a long time outside, Eli had to quarantine them for a few days before they were allowed to interact with the other dog in the house.
After a while, they grew used to seeing Eli around and she became like their mom. She did everything for them and they understood that.
They were very grateful to her for everything she did for them. But, they tend to show it in a more typical puppy fashion.
When the quarantine was finally over, they got a chance to play in the yard and they looked so happy to be playing outside. It was truly heartwarming to see them so happy and comfortable with Eli.
They changed completely in her care. After about one and a half years, they were unrecognizable. One of the siblings, Yuna, was fortunate enough to find her forever home and is now living the best life.
As for the other dogs, Teddy, Mayla, Waya and Kaya, they are still not adopted, but are looking forward to meeting someone special who will give them the love they deserve.
Eli said: “They would very much love to also find their loving forever homes.”
Even though they are still with Eli, she is more than happy taking care of them, and I have no doubt that she will do everything in her power to make sure these dogs find someone special who will cherish every moment with them.
