I always feel horrible when I see stray pups on the street who are struggling, but one thing that breaks my heart even more is seeing dogs with advanced health conditions.
That’s even worse. These pups not only have to struggle with finding food and shelter, but their medical conditions make everything much harder.
If they are lucky, some kind soul will see them on the street and do something to help, but I think it’s safe to say that this usually takes a while because a lot of people don’t want to help.
Podling was a special-needs puppy, and he was on the street from the start. He went through so much, and yet, he never gave up hope. Eventually, a kind person would come and take her to a new life.
Podling Has Swimmer Puppy Syndrome
When a kind woman from Louisiana first saw Podling, she felt bad for his condition. Apparently, he was found by his neighbors.
She wanted to do what she could to help, so she decided to take the small puppy to the Louisiana SPCA. When she was there, they quickly realized that he had swimmer puppy syndrome.
Dogs with swimmer puppy syndrome have a hard time using their hind legs, and they end up spending a lot of their time lying flat on the ground.
The kind woman who saved Podling had no idea about his background or where he even came from. All she knew was that this puppy needed help.
Despite having Swimmer Puppy Syndrome, Podling is capable of living a long and happy life as long as his condition is monitored by a veterinarian.
Even though he was only recently saved, Podling was a very cheerful and happy pup who just wanted to be around other people.
Interesting Development
He charms just about anyone he meets, and he loves doing just about anything all the other dogs like doing, whether it’s moving around in the yard, exploring, or playing with toys.
The Louisiana rescuers wanted to fight for this puppy, so they did whatever they could to help him. They knew how hard it was going to be to find a home for him, but they were going to try anyway.
However, just as fate would have it, the kind woman who saved this pup changed her mind. She came back to the shelter and asked around about Podling.
As it turns out, she wanted to adopt him. Nobody even expected it, but they were over the moon about this development.
They finalized the adoption papers, and this sweet pup is now living in a wonderful home with an amazing family. The shelter workers couldn’t be happier.
Even though she still needs to visit the veterinarian often, it doesn’t affect her quality of life at all. Just knowing that her favorite humans are always with her is more than enough to make her happy. She is just such a special dog.
