It’s always heartwarming to see a shelter dog’s reaction when one of the staff or volunteers takes them out to play.
They usually enjoy a good walk or even an entire day out filled with many fun activities. Small stuff like this can make their life in the shelter bearable.
However, sometimes, gestures like this can lead to something more permanent for these dogs, and it’s always heartwarming to see when a volunteer decides to adopt a shelter pup.
Something similar happened to this dog, Ruby, who just wanted to find a forever home, not knowing that something special was about to happen for her.
Ruby Deserves A Forever Home
When Ruby was first taken to a shelter in North Carolina, her life had changed completely. Her mood had shifted dramatically.
Places like this can help a dog find a new home, but they can also cause them significant stress, and that’s a big problem.
However, all of that would change when one of the volunteers, named Haleigh, decided to take Ruby for a sleepover at her house.
It was just going to be a relaxing evening for the two of them, and Haleigh thought this would help her get away from the stressful environment for at least a little while.
What she didn’t expect was how difficult it would be to send Ruby back. The two of them formed a bond immediately, and Haleigh fell in love with this adorable pup.
She knew that she wanted to adopt this pup, so she went back to Burlington Animal Services, where Ruby was staying.
Ruby’s Drive To A New Life
During their drive, Haleigh noticed how sad Ruby looked. She thought that this kind woman was taking her back to the shelter, and she didn’t want to go back.
The look in her eyes was just so sad, and it’s enough to make anyone feel heartbroken by Ruby’s sadness.
Fortunately for her, Haleigh was only going to the shelter to sign the adoption papers, and the two of them would be ready to start their new life together.
In the shelter, the staff told her that she needed a microchip and one final checkup at the veterinarian to make sure she was ready to go.
Haleigh went to take care of all that, and once it was done, she was ready to sign the adoption papers. Ruby was now officially her dog.
After spending a long time in the shelter, Ruby finally gets to go to her new home in North Carolina. She is incredibly fortunate to have Haleigh as her new mom.
I have no doubt that the two of them will go on many amazing adventures together, and I am glad everything turned out so great for them.
