It’s not every day that you stumble upon a fluffy surprise that instantly brightens your mood.
That’s exactly what happened to an Ohio resident when she stepped into her garden and noticed tiny, fluffy faces peeking up at her from a drain.
At first glance, the sweet kittens seemed very familiar, and that’s when the woman realized that they resembled the stray cat whom she had tried to capture for years.
The woman, who wishes to stay anonymous but we’ll refer to her as Jane, was determined to rescue the mama and her babies.
Winning Over Their Hearts

Jane wanted to rescue the kittens right away, but the mama cat was fearful and cautious, and didn’t let her approach her babies.
For this reason, Jane decided to gradually gain their trust. She started feeding them and leaving bowls of food and water in the garden.

At first, the mama cat was suspicious of Jane’s intentions, but as days went by, she started getting comfortable and eating in her presence.
The fluffy babies enjoyed eating the snacks that Jane gave them, and they became more trusting.
It didn’t take long for Joanie to let the woman scoop up all her kittens and bring them inside.

As expected, the mama cat needed some time to get used to living indoors, but she was relieved that her kids were safe.
All the kittens had eye infections and Jane gave them much-needed medication.

Finding forever homes for the mama and the kittens proved to be much easier than Jane had thought.
“Five out of six kittens are spoken for. A pair for my husband and I, a pair for a friend and his partner, and a singleton for my dog’s foster mom … Honestly, if we can’t find a home for the last kitten, we’ll probably keep him, as well,” Jane told The Dodo.
The Happy Life They Deserved

While it wasn’t easy for Joanie to adapt to indoor life, the kittens thrived. They enjoyed interacting with humans and showering them with kisses.
Once the kittens are old enough to get neutered, they will move in with their forever families and begin the happiest chapter of their lives. Until then, Jane and her husband will continue giving them a lot of love.

They hope that Joanie will adapt to life indoors so that they can adopt her. However, if that doesn’t happen, she will be spayed and returned to her old life outdoors once the babies are weaned.
What started as a surprise summer discovery turned into a life-changing rescue.
The fluffy family brought happiness into Jane’s home, and she feels lucky to have been able to help them.
