Today’s story about a stray puppy and a kind-hearted woman is yet another beautiful example.
Virginia Matthews lives alone in a rural place near a forest in Taylorsville, Mississippi. One day, while she was taking a walk, she heard strange sounds coming from the woods and rushed to check what was going on.
Once she entered the woods, Matthews discovered a little crying puppy. She tried to find his owner, but there was nobody around.
Since it became clear that the puppy was alone in the woods, Matthews decided to take him home.
The Pup Is Afraid
The pup, later named Lonely, was frightened and didn’t let Matthews touch him.
The good woman coaxed the pup to come with her, and luckily, he did.
Once they arrived at her home, Lonely hid under a camper trailer and refused to socialize with his rescuer. He was still overwhelmed with fear.
Matthews was certain that Lonely’s mother was a stray and that the two got separated for some reason.
The woman fed him and gave him water. She bought him toys and a new bed.
She spent several days earning his trust, sitting with him and speaking gently.
After a week had gone by, Lonely began trusting Matthews, and he let her stroke him. He agreed to stay inside at night.
His forever mom took the puppy to the vet, where he got a clean bill of health.
Lonely settled into his new home. He got a brand-new collar and a leash and started learning how to use puppy pads.
Matthews shared Lonely’s story on TikTok and asked for advice on how to care for the puppy. She knew she had a lot to learn because she hadn’t had a dog for thirty years.
It Was Meant To Be
Shortly after welcoming Lonely into her home, Matthews learned something surprising.
She found out that a group of campers had found another puppy in the woods two days before she encountered Lonely. The campers took the other pup home.
Matthews was certain that the second pup was Lonely’s sibling.
His mom’s love and care helped Lonely build confidence. He got rid of his fear and started playing and exploring his environment.
He loved his mom deeply and followed her wherever she went.
Matthews considers herself lucky because she has Lonely by her side. She realized that she needed him in her life.
“When i found Lonely, lost and alone in the woods, He changed MY life, i never would’ve thought, that I needed him too,” Matthews wrote on TikTok.
Lonely lives his best life in his Mississippi home. He and his mom couldn’t be happier to have found each other.
