Southern California Woman Spots Stray Dog On Highway Entrance Ramp

It’s not unusual to see stray dogs who have suffered so much that they lose their sense of direction and self-preservation.

Often, hunger and fear can push them to act in ways that are extremely dangerous.

In this story, we meet a stray dog who was severely hurt and ended up on a highway, facing serious risks.

A few months ago, a woman driving on a highway in Southern California spotted something unusual.

At first, she wasn’t sure what it was, but then she realized it was a stray dog trying to climb onto the highway.

She stopped to help, but the dog ran as far away as it could.

Realizing it was unsafe to stay on the road, she drove off but made sure to call Suzette Hall, from Logan’s Legacy for assistance.

Hall arrived quickly and searched for the dog, but it had disappeared. She waited patiently, and eventually, the dog appeared.

Hall said for The Dodo: She would come out by the freeway and just sniff the ground like she was looking for food. But there wasn’t any food, so she would go back into the junkyard and hide somewhere.

Unable to pinpoint the hiding spot, Hall set out pieces of bait in traps to catch the dog.

Each trap had food inside, and then it was just a matter of waiting for the dog to show up.

Hall didn’t have to wait long. The dog, now named Raggedy Annie, appeared quickly, driven by hunger.

She recalled: I couldn’t tell if it was her. But after a minute, I looked up, and I could see this little furball inside the trap.

Once trapped, Annie focused on the food, and Hall took her to a veterinarian in Southern California to run tests and decide on next steps.

The first step was shaving off her matted fur. Though scared during the process, Annie relaxed afterward.

Hall said: She wasn’t touchable at all at first. But when she knew she was safe and once she got all those mats off, she just came out of her shell. She was ready to begin her new life.

A few days later, the veterinarians confirmed Annie was healthy enough for foster care.

They tried scanning for a microchip but found none. Hall suspected she may have had owners before due to her gentle nature, but unfortunately, that was not the case.

Annie was placed in foster care to wait for adoption. While it’s unknown if she has been adopted yet, one thing is clear – this joyful dog has a lot of love to give and can make anyone happy if given a chance.
