A grey Pit Bull, later named Juniper, was lying at Balboa park in California watching the people pass him by.
It was hot that day, but he couldn’t get away from the sun and find shade because his owners tied him to a park sign, turned their backs on him and left him forever.
Just like all loyal dogs, Juniper refused to believe that he was left behind, and he kept expecting to see his owners appearing around the corner.
Sadly, as time went by, reality started to sink in. The dog’s expression grew sadder as he gazed wistfully into the distance, realizing his family wasn’t coming back for him.
His only hope was that someone would show him kindness and rescue him.
A Kind Rescuer Finds Out About Juniper

A kind man who was walking in the park saw the abandoned dog waiting for his family. He was terribly worried for him and knew he had to help him.
He called Erica, his neighbor and a dog rescuer, and told her about the heartbreaking situation, asking for her help. Erica immediately rushed to his aid.
Once she arrived at Balboa park, her heart sank when she saw the dog tethered to the park sign.
Erica approached him, and she noticed that there was a crumpled piece of paper that contained the heartwrenching note from his former family.
“Just got him, and it was [too] much for me. Nice dog. Can’t keep him, and [the] original owner doesn’t want him back. Please help,” the note, posted on Instagram, read.

Juniper was looking at her with sad eyes, as if he was asking her to lend him a hand.
Erica didn’t know how long he waited in the sun. She comforted him and promised that he would bring him to safety right away.
Juniper was extremely friendly, and he kept wagging his tail. When Erica loaded him into her car, he was all smiles.

“Everyone is this guys new best friend so it was easy to get him into the car. In fact he was THRILLED to go for a ride,” Erica wrote on Instagram.
The kind-hearted rescuer brought Juniper home. He was thrilled with his new bed and the toys.

Since Juniper had trouble fitting in with her other dogs, Erica worked hard to find him a foster home.
When no one stepped up to help, she had no choice but to bring him to the San Diego Humane Society.
Juniper was put on a stray hold although his owners abandoned him.
Waiting For His Happy Ending

Despite taking him to the shelter, Erica never truly gave up on him. She visited him every day just like she promised she would.
“I went in every day while he was in there on his ‘stray’ hold and until they could neuter him. I brought him and all [of the] dogs on his ward treats,” Erica added.
After he completed his neuter surgery, the San Diego shelter made him eligible for foster care.
Once his stray hold expired and his owner didn’t claim him, Erica picked him up from the shelter and drove him to his foster home.

Juniper settled in well and is having the time of his life with his foster family. He absorbs all the love his fosters give him.
His rescuer hopes that he will soon find a home of his own.
After the heartbreak he endured, the lovely pup deserves to get his happily ever after with the humans who would never reject him.
