Abandonment is heartbreaking, but sometimes it becomes the first step toward a brighter future — just like in Trekker’s case.
This sweet pup was left all alone in San Diego’s Cleveland National Forest, where she survived for more than two weeks after being dumped by her owner.
Hungry, frightened, and constantly alert for predators like coyotes and mountain lions, Trekker was on the verge of giving up hope. But fate wasn’t ready to give up on her.
A Lonely Figure In The Wilderness

While out for a walk in the woods, a woman spotted Trekker from afar. At first, she assumed it was a wild animal, but after a closer look, she realized it was a dog.
Trekker was perched nervously on a slope, making it impossible for the woman to approach or rescue her.
Refusing to leave her behind, the woman set up a feeding station nearby, hoping the dog would gather the courage to eat. She did — gratefully accepting what was likely her first real meal in days.
Wanting to help further, the woman contacted Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy in Irvine, California.
A Rescuer Steps In

Hall didn’t hesitate. She immediately drove deep into the forest, taking a narrow one-lane road without any cell service. None of that mattered — all she could think about was reaching Trekker.
“I couldn’t stop thinking how scared she was and how hungry she was,” Hall shared. “I honestly can’t even describe how deep in the forest she was.”
Once on site, Hall set a humane trap, hoping Trekker would enter quickly. But the frightened pup kept her distance. For two days, she avoided the trap, too scared to come closer.
Finally, on the third morning, Hall arrived to find Trekker inside, wagging her tail with relief. It was as though she was saying she was ready to be safe again.

Hall took her straight to a local shelter, where a scan revealed she was microchipped. Shockingly, Trekker had only been adopted days earlier — before being heartlessly abandoned in the woods.
Thankfully, Hall already had a plan for her.
From Survivor To Beloved Pet

After a thorough vet check, Trekker was placed in the care of Sharon Kelly, a loving foster mom. There, she blossomed quickly, showing just how resilient she was. She thrived in her foster home, showering her new family with affection while she waited for her forever people.
“She is a miracle, a survivor, and she is rescued,” Hall wrote.

It wasn’t long before Trekker’s happy ending arrived. She was adopted into a wonderful family that gave her all the love she had been missing.
“She has found perfect love, a perfect family. She will be loved and cherished. I am just happy for her. She deserves all the love and happiness in the world. We will love you forever sweetheart,” Hall shared in a Facebook post.

Trekker settled in instantly, bonding not only with her new humans but also with her canine sibling. Her face lit up with joy, her smile proof that she knew she was finally home.
After enduring fear, hunger, and abandonment, Trekker had at last found her safe place.
We wish this brave girl a long, love-filled life with her new family.
