Picture this: you are just taking a relaxing walk in the park and minding your own business. Then, you spot something that shocks you.
There is an injured animal in the distance that is crying for help, but you are not experienced enough to deal with something like this.
You get closer to examine it, only to realize that it is a small gosling who desperately needs medical attention. The only thing left to do is call the professionals to help.
This is basically what happened to a passerby who found the gosling, so they called New York wildlife rescuer, Karenlynn Stracher, to help them.
What Was The Injury?
When Stracher received the call, she immediately prepared for the rescue and rushed to find the injured gosling.
The kind woman saw the animal wandering aimlessly and looking for help. She had experience with rescues like this, so this shouldn’t be too difficult.
Stracher told The Dodo: “Unfortunately, this is a very common occurrence. If a gosling or duckling hatches late, is a bit weaker than the others, or gets injured, if not found by a kind human willing to take the time to find help, they will not survive.”
As she got closer, she tried to grab the gosling, and the injured animal did not resist at all. Stracher examined her injuries closely.
There was something odd about his feet. They looked different. In either case, he needed a proper medical examination.
The woman placed the gosling in her vehicle and drove straight to Sweetbriar Nature Center for a checkup.
The Gosling Is Recovering Fast
They confirmed that the gosling only had soft tissue injury and that this wasn’t anything serious. He will make a full recovery pretty quickly.
While he was recovering, he stayed with the veterinarians, and Stracher made sure to check up on him. The gosling was healing faster every day.
Eventually, he had fully recovered, and the kind rescuer from New York made sure to send him back to his natural habitat where he could reunite with his family.
Stracher said: “I was thrilled to hear how well he had done and that he was able to be released and enjoy the life he was meant to live. This little one was one of the very lucky ones!”
Fortunately, this little gosling ran into some Good Samaritans who quickly responded and got her the help he needed.
Who knows how long he would have struggled if they hadn’t come to his aid. What’s important is that he is doing great and can finally enjoy his life.
