Nevada Woman Saves Paralyzed Dog From Euthanasia, Then Learns Something Shocking

Benny is one of those dogs who just weren’t lucky enough to have it all: a nice, loving home, a steady future, and endless, carefree days filled with adventures.

Instead, he was one of many in a shelter in California, waiting for the day when he would be put to eternal sleep. The reason? He was born with paralyzed hind legs, and the family surrendered him.

Despite his loving personality, Benny’s luck didn’t change. He was overlooked by people and confined to a tiny kennel.

Then, a woman showed up: one who not only saw through his pain, but actually discovered something truly remarkable!

It Was A Stunning Discovery

Benny’s condition was far from being his fault. This little pup was born with two conjoined discs in his spine, causing him paralysis in his hind legs. Yet, due to his health issues, he was surrendered and set for euthanasia.

The second she saw the picture of Benny in his tiny kennel, awaiting the inevitable, Abby knew she had to help.

“He was gonna be put to sleep if no one adopted him,” Abby told GeoBeats Animals.

Thanks to a local rescue organization in Nevada, this long-time foster was able to get him pulled from the shelter. He was flown from California to Nevada thanks to a group of kind rescuers. The next thing he knew was Abby’s home, and many new friends

“When I got him, he warmed up immediately. He also warmed up to my other dogs. He instantly wanted to play, and then slowly he just started walking and balancing on his hind legs,” Abby added.

Benny truly enjoyed being in his foster home. He adapted in record time, became everyone’s best bud, and then pulled out one more stunning surprise: he started to walk!

When Abby first saw him slowly walking around the house, she couldn’t believe her eyes. Apparently, all this time, Benny didn’t know he could actually use his legs…and now he was finally able to run freely!

Little by little, this resilient boy was not only enjoying his walkies: he was jumping, doing zoomies, and playing with his furry buddies in the field. To see him evolve from a paralyzed puppy to an enthusiastic dog was truly rewarding. And Abby couldn’t be happier!

New Chance, New Life, New Friends

Choosing Benny to be her lifelong companion was the best decision Abby could make.

This German Shepherd-like pup is sweet, affectionate, and the epitome of a perfectly behaved dog

Recently, he started to attend daycare, and Abby learned something truly wonderful. According to Benny’s caregivers, the daycare uses him as an introductory dog because he’s so gentle with other pups.

“He is so kind and gentle to other dogs that I’m told that the daycare uses him as an introductory dog to the daycare,” says Abby.

Today, Benny lives his life to the fullest. He even has a new best friend, his little brother, Watson, also a special-needs puppy.

Thanks to Benny’s incredible spirit, Watson is now on his way to learning how to walk.

He follows him around in his wheelchair, plays with him, and basically sees a role model in Benny which is truly fascinating.

Once a dog awaiting euthanasia, Benny now couldn’t be happier. All thanks to his amazing mom!
