While traveling down a busy highway, Elle Worley from Nebraska encountered something she never expected.
She spotted a small Beagle walking along the edge of the road. Without hesitation, she pulled over, stepped out of her car, and approached the dog. That’s when she noticed something alarming: the Beagle was bleeding from her mouth.
Elle acted swiftly, rushing the injured pup to a nearby veterinary clinic, hoping the damage wasn’t severe. But the diagnosis she received was far worse than she imagined.
A Devastating Discovery At The Clinic

Elle’s heart sank the moment she reached the Beagle, later named Juni.
The dog wasn’t just bleeding. She was severely underweight and emotionally withdrawn. Though she barely reacted, Juni seemed to understand Elle was there to help.
“She was alone, extremely malnourished, and bleeding from the mouth. I wasn’t sure if she had been dumped, jumped from a vehicle, or had gotten lost—but it was immediately clear she needed urgent help,” Elle wrote on the Spotfund platform.

Elle gently placed Juni in her car and drove her straight to the vet. What she learned there was horrifying.
The Nebraska veterinarian revealed that Juni had been shot twice in the jaw. The bullets had narrowly missed her brain by mere inches. Elle was stunned by the cruelty of the act and knew Juni needed immediate medical attention.
Along with pain relief, Juni required emergency surgery to repair her jaw.
Elle launched a fundraiser to help cover Juni’s medical expenses. She also posted her story online, and within days, it spread rapidly.
Support came pouring in from across the country. People were moved by Juni’s ordeal and wanted to help. In just a short time, the once-abandoned Beagle had an entire community behind her.

Thanks to the donations and Elle’s dedication, Juni underwent successful surgery.
By the start of her second week with Elle’s family, Juni was already showing signs of recovery.
She began interacting with Elle’s two Golden Retrievers, Copper and Penny, and slowly started to come out of her shell. Seeing her embrace life again after such trauma was deeply rewarding.
“Copper and Penny have been absolutely amazing—so gentle and loving with Juni. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better dogs,” Elle wrote in the post.
A Fight For Justice

Elle didn’t stop at helping Juni heal physically. She also began working to hold the person responsible accountable.
With encouragement from those following Juni’s journey, Elle launched a campaign called “Justice for Juni,” demanding felony charges against whoever harmed the dog.

While the legal efforts continued, Elle remained focused on Juni’s recovery.
She made the decision to adopt Juni permanently, welcoming her into the family alongside Copper and Penny.
Now, Juni no longer has to live in fear. She is safe, loved, and surrounded by warmth.
“She has found her forever home and is safe, loved, and healing every day,” Elle concluded in a Facebook post.
