There’s nothing more important to pet owners than making sure that their beloved furry companions are always content and safe.
We live to make their lives as comfortable as possible, and they, in turn, make ours better. However, it’s not always possible to protect them from everything.
Accidents happen, and our pets can sometimes be in the middle of it. Moments like this are extremely heartbreaking for every owner who has gone through something like this.
This woman from Colorado stepped out of her house for only 20 minutes only to come back and witness something tragic.
A Tragedy

For Lacey, it was an ordinary day and she was just going about her business when something horrible happened.
She went out of her house for 20 minutes, but she had no idea that something caused a kitchen fire while her pets were still inside the house.
The firefighters came to the scene really fast, but it was too late for her cat, Jasper, who didn’t make it. The Colorado firefighters found him immediately as they stepped through the door.
Lacey’s dog, Seven, was actually still alive and was trying his hardest to get out of the home. When the scared pup noticed that the blaze was spreading in the living room, he tried to get out through the window, but it was not possible.

Realizing that he didn’t have much choice, he then left the living room and presumably in another room that had less smoke in it. The firefighters found him just in time.
A few more minutes and he likely wouldn’t have made it either. He had to be treated with oxygen, and he was barely holding on.
It’s unclear if this tragedy will affect him in the long run, but he is okay for now. As for Jasper, Lacey was just completely devastated by what happened.
Lacey’s Story On TikTok

Lacey couldn’t stop thinking about what happened to her beloved furry companion, so she posted the story about the fire on her TikTok channel as a thank you to the firefighters for saving Seven.
One person commented: “Omg cats hide! I’m so so sorry !! This is everyone’s nightmare-thank goodness your dog was saved and you’re okay.”
The situation could have been so much worse, but it’s good to know that Lacey will have Seven to comfort her after Jasper’s passing.
Another person said: “This is why I’m against crates.. at least give them a fighting chance in case of fire.”

Well, I’ll admit, I have never heard a better argument against crates than this. It’s horrifying to even imagine what could have happened if they were stuck in a crate.
Lastly, somebody commented: “I lost a kitten in a house fire years ago, different kind of hurt! Thinking of you!!”
In a way, tragedy always unites us, and it’s wholesome to see that Lacey is getting support from all the people who feel horrible for what happened and also those who went through something similar.
While the pain of Jasper’s passing likely won’t go away, Lacey still has her beautiful dog to help her move on with her life.
