New York Woman Leaving Work Finds A Canvas Tote Zipped Shut And What She Finds Inside Changes Everything

Walking through the parking lot, she had expected nothing but the usual leaves, the usual doors, the usual closing of a long day.

Then she paused; something didn’t belong. A canvas tote bag, zipped and quiet, sat where no tote should.

Is it lost? Forgotten? She stepped closer. No tag, no shoulder strap flung wide, just the bag, zipped tight, and waiting.

Her breath caught as she heard it: a faint rustle from inside. She crouched, staring at the zipper seam, deciding whether to risk opening it.

When she did unzip it, the sound from inside confirmed her fear. The bag wasn’t empty, and the life inside was in need.

How Did It End Up There?

Not too long ago, a woman from New York noticed a dirty canvas bag on the sidewalk. It was completely zipped up, but there was writing on it that said, “cats, caution”.

The woman opened the bag only to be met with complete shock, after realizing that somebody had left four kittens in the bag just like this.

It was horrifying. They could not survive on their own. How could someone do this to them? The woman, who just happened to be a volunteer for PuppyKittyNYC, decided to help.

She called the president of the organization, Meagan Licari. Licari told The Dodo: “They were crying a lot because they probably hadn’t eaten in a few hours. They probably had a mom [who] was taking good care of them.

Because they were so small, they needed constant 24/7 care. Licari had to find someone who could help. She contacted a foster who was experienced with something like this.

And the foster woman agreed to help them. They were sleeping on plush blankets in the woman’s bathtub.

They Will Be Adopted In Pairs

Thanks to the care of this amazing foster woman, the kittens have grown a lot in four weeks. They are now able to digest wet food.

Many of them are starting to walk around a lot and explore their environment. It’s really heartwarming to see their curiosity.

The kittens were named Shoelace, Buckle, Button and Zipper. All of them are developing their own unique personalities, day by day.

After a few more weeks, they’ll have to go to a vet in New York to get their vaccinations. They will also be spayed and neutered.

When that part is over, the rescuers will make sure to put them on an adoption list, and they are really hopeful that all the kittens will find a home fast.

Since they are siblings, the rescuers will adopt them in pairs, so they all have a companion they can play with in their new home. After everything they went through, it’s wonderful to see them thriving.
