We all know dogs are serious about their food. It’s one of the biggest parts of their day. No matter how much they eat, they’re almost always ready for seconds.
Trying to enjoy a meal with a dog sitting at your side, staring at your plate, is one of life’s toughest moments. You want to give in, but you also don’t want them putting on weight.
Moments like these always tug at my heart, but I remind myself that skipping scraps keeps my dog healthier in the long run.
Still, that doesn’t stop them from trying. A woman in New York saw this firsthand when her foster pup surprised her one evening at dinner.
Turns Out, He’s All About Pizza

While Alexa Reidenauer was having pizza with friends, her foster pup, Rebecca, was nearby. Rebecca had come into her care malnourished, so it’s no wonder she now gets excited about food.
As Alexa and her friends enjoyed their meal, Rebecca waited patiently for her turn. Eventually, she got her chance and went for a bite of pizza.
Alexa explained that because Rebecca was still underweight, she didn’t hesitate to give her a little more. After all, who can resist pizza? Naturally, Rebecca wanted another bite.

One of the challenges Alexa faced was that Rebecca didn’t always have much of an appetite, so this moment caught her off guard.
Rebecca had a number of health concerns, and Alexa simply wanted her to feel a little better. Since this seemed to work, she hoped it might help stimulate her appetite again.
But Rebecca wasn’t the only one interested in the cheesy treat. Alexa’s own dog, Joni, also joined the pizza fun and grabbed a slice for herself.
Pizza Was Simply Too Tempting For Rebecca

After seeing how excited Rebecca got, Alexa made sure to capture it on video. As you might expect, the video of this New York pup drew plenty of attention and lots of comments.
One person commented: “I didn’t realize discovering a rescue’s fav food was a canon event, mine came alive when I had French fries around her for the first time.”
I don’t think I’ve ever pinpointed a favorite. My dog just eats anything and everything offered.
Another person said: “I feel like maybe we should have guessed that because who doesn’t love a good slice over chicken.”

Exactly. Pizza has a universal appeal, and it’s no surprise Rebecca was into it.
Lastly, somebody commented: “My sweet senior dog will only eat roasted chicken, pork, or beef. she’s 16 so I’m just overjoyed she’s eating.”
That’s truly touching. Many senior dogs lose their appetite, so seeing them enjoy their meals is always reassuring.
Scrolling through these replies, it’s clear this is a common experience. Aging dogs often face tough days, and small things like discovering a food they’ll eat can make a big difference in their lives.
