Nothing could have prepared Gin Walker for the painful sight she was about to face as she approached a dumpster near her home.
The Michigan resident was carrying items she planned to throw away.
When she opened the dumpster lid, she was stunned to see a pair of sorrowful eyes looking back at her from the bottom, silently pleading for help.
Her heart sank when she realized the desperate animal inside was a white Pit Bull mix with a black patch on his face.
Walker immediately called 9-1-1, and the City of Ann Arbor Police Department quickly rushed to the location. Washtenaw County Animal Control was also dispatched to assist the dog.
Rescuing The Pup From The Dumpster
The woman remained with the dog until help arrived.
When police and animal control officers reached the scene and saw the pup lying among the trash, they were horrified and heartbroken.
He had a large tumor along the left side of his ribs and appeared unable to stand.
Using special equipment with a harness, they carefully lifted him out of the dumpster.
He had no collar or microchip.
The police shared his heartbreaking story on Facebook, posting photos of the rescue.
The public was outraged at the neglect and cruelty he had endured.
The Humane Society of Huron Valley took the dog into their care and welcomed him with compassion. He was examined by a veterinarian and provided with the medical attention he urgently needed.
The Pup Is In Good Hands

The pup, believed to be around ten years old, was nervous but gentle.
After giving him time to relax, staff took him for a short walk. Though he did not go far, he enjoyed sniffing around and happily accepted his treats.
While he continues treatment, veterinarians are working to determine a diagnosis for the growth on his side.
At the same time, police are working to identify who left him in the dumpster.
They are asking the public to come forward with any details about the dog and his owner.
“Anyone who may recognize him or has information about its owner is urged to call the AAPD front desk at (734) 794-6920 or email the tip line at [email protected],” the police wrote in a Facebook post.
Everyone is hoping he will recover fully and begin a new chapter filled with kindness.
After everything he went through, he deserves a chance at true happiness.
