Whenever I see a dog left behind by its owner, I usually assume neglect is to blame. I felt the same way when I first saw a photo of Andre, only to discover a story that completely changed my perspective.
It turns out that quick judgments often miss the full story. Andre’s situation was far from typical neglect. This gentle five-year-old Pittie mix was left in a Georgia park right before a storm, and the note attached to him revealed a reason that was truly heartbreaking.
Abandoned Because Of Devastating Circumstances

When Tara Borelli from Georgia came across a post about a dog left tied up in a park with a note on his collar, her heart immediately sank. Andre, a sweet Pittie mix, had been abandoned just moments before a heavy snowstorm, and Tara knew she couldn’t leave him there.
She drove several miles to the park to bring him in at least for the night, only to have the note attached to his collar break her heart further.
“ ‘Hi my name is Andre. My dad is facing homelessness. I am a really good dog. My dad’s heart is broken. And no shelter will take me.’ These are the heartbreaking words that Andre’s dad tied to his beloved dog,” Tara wrote in a heartbreaking Facebook post.

After a brief introduction, Tara and Andre climbed into her car, hoping to get home safely. They were soon caught in the middle of the storm, and she lost traction a few times, eventually being bumped by another vehicle.
Just when it seemed they might have to spend the night in her car, three kind men who saw the situation stepped in to help her get back on the road. Within a few hours, Tara and Andre were safely home.

Andre was given a warm meal and a secure place to rest. Tara, providing temporary foster care, felt deeply for both the dog and his owner, wishing she could help resolve their situation.
“To his dad, I hope you know that we are showering Andre with affection, and will do everything we can to make sure the rest of his days are filled with love,” she wrote.
Andre Deserves A Second Chance

Thanks to Tara, Andre was given a true second chance. He was rescued from a dangerous storm and brought into a caring home where he could relax, follow a routine, play, and snuggle.
Unfortunately, because her senior dog wasn’t a match for Andre, Tara had to find another solution. She registered him with Fulton County Animal Services in Georgia, hoping his story would reach people looking to adopt.

Andre genuinely deserves a loving home. Sadly, the shelter environment is taking a toll on him, and his cheerful spirit is beginning to fade.
“He’s a sensitive dog and after a week-and-half has back at the shelter the light is fading from his eyes and extreme kennel stress is setting in,” Tara in one of her latest posts on Instagram.
What Andre truly needs is someone who will recognize his loving nature and give him the permanent, stable home he longs for. He’s too tenderhearted to endure another heartbreak, and he deserves a chance to thrive in a caring environment.
Good luck, precious boy!
