When it comes to adopting dogs, I would say that the main factor most people look at is a pup’s age and breed. Although, an argument could be made that breed is the most important.
I know for a fact that I would also prefer my dog to be a certain breed before I adopt. Not that there is anything wrong with other pups, it’s just a preference.
And, that is okay. People are allowed to have their own opinions and preferences when it comes to taking a dog into his new forever home.
After all, when a dog is compatible with his family, that is the most important thing. When this woman from Florida first adopted her pup, she thought that the pup was a Black Labrador. However, she would be soon surprised by a new revelation.
A Surprising Revelation

When Nancy Muth first welcomed her new dog, Rocco, into the family, she thought that she had adopted a Black Labrador.
He was in a family that could no longer care for him and his siblings were also not very ‘nice’ to him. So, in order to help, Muth gave him a new chance.
Rocco spent quite a while in the new family before Muth noticed something odd about his appearance. His wrinkles were starting to come in, which was unusual for that breed.

So, she took the puppy to a vet in Florida to have him checked out. She was completely taken aback when the veterinarian told her that her puppy was probably more Cane Corso than a lab.
This surprised her completely. I mean, he did look like a Black Labrador; however, as he was growing up, his appearance quickly changed.
Muth never cared for a Cane Corso before. The family only had Corgis, so this was a change of pace from before, but they didn’t care because he was just so adorable.
Funny Reactions Online

After everything unfolded with Rocco, Muth decided to post a clip about his breed online and she was shocked by the overwhelming response to the video.
One person commented: “He’s beautiful. He doesn’t understand he’s not what you wanted. I can understand your surprise , that would just make me hug him more.”
Well, even if Muth was surprised to learn he was not a Black Labrador, she loves him all the same because he is just the sweetest puppy ever.
Another person said: “You have won the lottery – but be prepared to have a constant shadow following you for the next decade.”

Well, it is pretty well known that Cane Corsos are good guard dogs and I have no doubt that he will protect his family as best as he can.
Lastly, somebody commented: “My mom adopted a black lab from a shelter lol. Maybe 3 weeks later it was clear that he was a pit bull.”
Okay, well, I suppose it’s good to know that this kind of situation can happen to pretty much anyone.
Nevertheless, no matter what puppy you get, you just know that he’s going to love you if you love him. They are just that simple and we need to treasure the time we have with them.
