Woman In Kansas Finds Something Unusual While Throwing Out Her Trash

Many dogs go through heartbreak at some point in their lives. It often happens when they’re abandoned and slowly come to understand what’s happening.

While most people bring unwanted pets to shelters, there are others who can’t even manage that small act of care.

Instead, they leave animals in awful places and terrible conditions, with no food or water. This story follows a pittie who was tossed in the trash and simply left behind.

A Heartless Act

While going about her usual daily tasks, a woman in Kansas stepped outside to take out the trash.

That’s when she heard something strange. It sounded like something was moving inside the dumpster, so she looked in and was shocked by what she saw.

There was a dog inside, locked in a wire crate with no way out.

She immediately contacted the Wichita Animal Action League and help arrived quickly for the dog in need.

He was rushed to a veterinary clinic, as he was extremely underweight and likely fighting infections.

The veterinary team cared for him attentively, but he was soon transferred to his new medical foster parents, Lee and Darcy.

While staying with his new caretakers, Bowie began to gain weight and didn’t look so underfed anymore.

He loved to eat quickly, barely chewing, so his fosters used puzzle feeders to help slow him down.

One of the rescuers, Sarah Coffman, had hoped to foster Bowie herself, but he was already scheduled to move to another home.

She told The Dodo: I was trying to convince my husband that we needed to foster Bowie. And I was really, really reluctant to take Bowie to Connie’s house to foster.

Still, once they got there, Coffman was touched by how much love Connie put into welcoming Bowie into her home.

It was clear right away how much Connie cared for Bowie. He seemed genuinely happy and full of affection, and his fosters were taken aback by it.

They brought him on regular walks, and he quickly came to enjoy them. But the biggest moment came when he began running.

Connie said: When he first started running, and realizing he could run, it was kind of like a baby learning how to walk. And the more he does it, the more he enjoys it.

The family also liked taking him to Andy’s Frozen Custard in Kansas, where he got to indulge in a pup cone.

Nothing seemed to dim his spirit anymore, and it was obvious he was embracing his new life.

His foster family is incredibly proud of how far he’s come. He looks like an entirely different dog now, and we’re all wishing him the best for whatever comes next.
