Anyone who has lived with a dog knows that they can be unpredictable at times.
Even the calmest and sweetest pups are capable of creating mischief out of the blue, leaving their humans both amused and exasperated.
Of course, the best way to avoid such surprises is to keep pets away from delicate or valuable household items.
But sometimes, it’s not even your own dog who causes trouble. In this case, the playful culprit turned out to be a stray pup looking for a bit of attention.
A Porch Turned Upside Down

One day in St. Louis, a local woman heard strange noises outside her home. Curious, she stepped onto her porch—only to discover that her carefully arranged deck had been completely disturbed.
Flower pots lay tipped over, and soil was scattered everywhere. It was obvious that some animal had been responsible.
As she inspected the mess, she noticed movement behind a large terra-cotta pot. To her surprise, it wasn’t a raccoon or a squirrel. Peeking back at her was an adorable little puppy.
Realizing that the pup was likely a stray, she wasted no time and reached out to Stray Rescue of St. Louis for help.
Rescue Mission Begins

Veteran rescuer Donna Lochmann soon arrived on the scene. She quickly assessed the situation and was relieved to see that the dog appeared healthy.
“She was just really scared. Luckily, she wasn’t injured,” Lochmann explained to The Dodo.
The sweet pup, later named Queen Elizabeth, seemed ready to accept help.
“She let me leash her up, so I picked her up and carried her out to the jeep,” Lochmann recalled.
Though the little dog stayed cautious and reserved during the ride, Lochmann comforted her along the way. Elizabeth seemed to sense that her days of struggling alone on the streets were finally over.
At the clinic, the pup was given a complete health check and received treatment for any possible infections she may have picked up while fending for herself.
Lochmann added: “She’s a little timid. But not in any way, shape or form aggressive.”
From Stray To Family Hopeful

After just a short time in rescue care, Queen Elizabeth was officially ready to move forward.
She is now a little over a year old and currently staying in foster care while she waits for the perfect forever family.
Despite her shy nature, her sweetness shines through. With her playful spirit and gentle personality, rescuers are confident she will soon capture someone’s heart.

Her journey began with a messy porch and a big surprise, but it is sure to end with a warm home and people who will love her unconditionally.
