Woman In New York Discovers A Hidden Favorite Treat Of Her Foster Pup

We all know how much dogs love food. For them, mealtime is often the highlight of the day. Even when their bowls are empty, they’re usually ready to beg for more.

Anyone who’s tried eating while a dog sits beside them, staring at every bite, knows just how hard it is not to share. You want to make them happy, but you also worry about keeping them at a healthy weight.

Moments like that always tug at my heart, but I remind myself that saying no to scraps is better for my dog’s health.

Of course, that doesn’t stop them from trying their luck. One woman in New York learned this when her foster pup surprised her during dinner.

A Pup With A Taste For Pizza

One evening, while Alexa Reidenauer was enjoying pizza with friends, her foster dog, Rebecca, stayed close by. Rebecca had arrived in her care malnourished, so it made sense that food was always on her mind.

As Alexa and her friends shared slices, Rebecca patiently waited until she finally got a taste of the cheesy meal. Unsurprisingly, once she had her first bite, she immediately wanted more.

Alexa explained that since Rebecca was still underweight, she didn’t hesitate to let her have a little extra. After all, pizza is hard to resist, no matter who you are.

One of the ongoing challenges Alexa faced was that Rebecca often lacked an appetite, which made this moment even more surprising.

Rebecca had several health issues, and Alexa just wanted her to feel comfortable. Since the pizza seemed to spark her interest, she hoped it might encourage Rebecca to eat more regularly.

But Rebecca wasn’t alone in her enthusiasm. Alexa’s own dog, Joni, also jumped in and helped herself to a slice of the meal.

Pizza Brings Out Her Personality

Seeing Rebecca’s excitement, Alexa decided to record the moment. As expected, the video of this pizza-loving pup quickly drew plenty of reactions online.

One person commented: “I didn’t realize discovering a rescue’s fav food was a canon event, mine came alive when I had French fries around her for the first time.”

Another wrote: “I feel like maybe we should have guessed that because who doesn’t love a good slice over chicken.”

I can relate. My own dog doesn’t have a single favorite food. He simply eats whatever is offered with the same level of enthusiasm.

Others chimed in with their own stories. One person said: “My sweet senior dog will only eat roasted chicken, pork, or beef. she’s 16 so I’m just overjoyed she’s eating.”

That comment was especially moving. Senior dogs often lose interest in food, so watching them enjoy a meal can be incredibly reassuring.

Scrolling through the replies, it was clear that Rebecca’s story touched a lot of people. Many pet owners know the relief of discovering something their older dog will eat, even if it’s just a small treat that brings joy back to mealtime.
