A disturbing video surfaced on Facebook, showing a woman abandoning a defenseless dog in a residential area of Surprise, Arizona. The clip quickly sparked outrage.
In the video, a red SUV rolls down a peaceful cul-de-sac. As the vehicle turns around, a woman opens the back door and throws a small black-and-white dog onto the pavement.
Before the SUV speeds away, she utters a chilling “bye-bye” to the confused and betrayed pup.
A Bystander Witnesses The Unthinkable
Despite the harsh treatment, the devastated dog instinctively chased after the car, hoping his person might reconsider and return.
That same afternoon, Joanna Buesen was walking her own dog when she saw the heartbreaking moment unfold.
“I was angered. I was flabbergasted, shocked. Just so many emotions,” she told Arizona Family.
Seeing the abandoned dog desperately trying to follow the person who had just left him, Buesen gently called out to him, offering comfort.
The moment he heard her kind voice, the frightened pup ran toward her, seeking safety and connection.
Buesen took the dog home, gave him food, and ensured he felt secure. Later, animal control arrived to take him into their care.
Shaken by what she had witnessed, Buesen condemned the woman’s actions, especially the cold farewell caught on video.
“I think that they had no remorse for their actions, and I think that is the telltale that it is malicious intent. I understand things are hard and things can be tough in life, but you don’t have to be a soulless human. And that is just a soulless thing,” Buesen said.
Authorities Step In To Investigate
The incident was swiftly reported to local officials, who launched an investigation.
Luckily, the SUV’s license plate was clearly visible in the footage, giving law enforcement a strong lead.
FOX 10 Phoenix later confirmed that the individuals responsible had been identified.
A man and a woman, the dog’s owners, came forward and are now facing charges for animal cruelty.
The dog was placed in a nearby Arizona shelter, where he will soon be available for adoption.
