No dog deserves to be neglected. Sadly, this is a harsh reality for thousands of our four-legged friends who are forced to live on a chain, far from a cozy bed or even decent shelter.
Pepper, a North Carolina Pittie, knows this feeling all too well.
She spent her entire life living outside the house on a six-foot chain, often with no food and water at all. Fortunately, her luck was about to change when her neighbor decided to do something about it.
Tasting Freedom For The First Time Ever
When Allie, one of Pepper’s neighbors from North Carolina, spotted this lovely Pittie girl for the first time, her heart broke.
“She lived her life on a chain, outside, tied to a house, with no proper food, water or shelter. It made me cry all day..literally,” Allie wrote in an Instagram post.
She knew Pepper deserved much more than a chain and life with no basic humane resources. One day, she decided to get in touch with her owner, stating she would be happy to provide Pepper with everything the dog needed for a decent life.
Initially agreeing to provide Pepper with a new shelter and bed, the owner then offered Allie to buy the dog, stating she was pregnant. To her shock, he added that if she didn’t, he would sell Pepper on eBay.
Allie, who had no intention of adopting another dog, immediately said yes. She reached into her wallet, pulled out the $23 she had, and handed it to the owner. Just like that, Pepper was on her way to a new life with her new owner.
Allie and her husband, Ryan, who already owned another Pittie, could not be more grateful for bringing Pepper home. They took her to the vet, only to discover something truly shocking: Pepper wasn’t pregnant after all.
Despite having an idea to find another home for this neglected Pittie, Pepper adjusted into their home so perfectly that it was impossible to say goodbye to her.
“The idea was to adopt her out but she’s just TOO GREAT to let go of,” Allie added.
Welcome Home, Pepper
Allie and her family didn’t expect Pepper’s transformation so soon. However, after only a day of decompressing in her new home, she turned into a cuddlebug. Pepper demanded cuddles from her new owners, showing how genuinely sweet and lovable she was from the start.
“Despite having a rough life, Pepper is the goofiest, cutest pit bull of a pup and loves Oliver, Indie and Ryan more and more each day…She’s going to live a great life.. with us,” Allie concluded in the post.
Pepper’s previous life didn’t leave scars on her behavior. She’s the ultimate family dog, perfect with kids and has a wonderful way with Allie and Ryan’s other Pittie.
She plays, cuddles, enjoys cozy nap times, and appreciates every second of her new life.
It’s safe to say that Pepper is finally home. She’s as far from the chain and neglect as she could possibly be, headed to new adventures with her loving family.
