They don’t always lead with their eyes or ears. Dogs who are deaf or blind often navigate the world through other senses, and their presence is shaped by how deeply they feel.
Just think for a moment how difficult their life is. Not being able to rely on the two of the most crucial senses is debilitating, and yet, they still smile all the time.
That’s how you know that a dog really wants to live his or her life, even though life can treat them horribly because of their disabilities.
When this kind woman from California heard about two blind and deaf dogs, she knew that they needed her help, so she quickly reacted.
At Least They Have Each Other

Fostering is never an easy task, especially when you are taking care of dogs with special needs. Kelly Sayer has been fostering for a long time and she has helped so many dogs.
However, when Sayer met two dogs who were both blind and deaf, she knew that they desperately needed their help.
Just think for a moment how difficult it is for these dogs. They can’t hear or see. They can only rely on their other senses, but they can’t survive on their own.

That’s why Sayer decided to take them in and give them a chance to start over a new life. She noted that they are both very sweet; however, their first encounter was unusual.
One of the dogs, Neve, was a bit unsure about the other, Nala, but that didn’t matter in the long run, as they got along just fine afterward.
They are learning more about each other with each passing day and that’s ultimately what helps them live together in the same space.
Neve And Nala’s Backstory

When Sayer asked around about Neve, she learned that the pup was used for breeding and then just cruelly discarded after all her puppies had passed away.
This was just tragic, and it was so heartbreaking for Sayer to learn that bit of information. Imagine going through all of that and then just being abandoned.
She was dumped at a veterinary clinic in California, and they called Sayer, which is how she met them both the first time. The vets had no idea that Neve was blind and deaf because at that point, they hadn’t done the examinations.
On the other hand, Nala was surrendered for a similar reason by a breeder, but this one knew about her disabilities, so he abandoned her because she was useless to him.

Neve is also dealing with some other health problems and Sayer has been trying to help her deal with those.
Despite their really tragic past, Sayer is doing her best to help them find a forever home. One way to do that is by posting their story on TikTok, which is what she did.
The video about their meeting went viral and Sayer is hoping that someone who sees this video might take the opportunity to give them a new life.
Until that happens, they are safe with her and are thriving. Despite their disabilities, they are still very cheerful and sweet, so they deserve another chance.
