When a woman named Siena heard strange cries outside her apartment in Costa Mesa, California, at 1 a.m., she got worried. Unsure of the source, she went outside to check.
Once Siena stepped out, the screaming ceased.
Suspecting that a tiny kitten might be behind the screams, she let out a meow to find out if her guess was correct.
The moment she did, the cries returned, confirming that they belonged to the kitten.
When the woman saw the fuzzy baby standing on an electrical box, she was shocked.
Saving The Kitten

The kitten was terrified and didn’t know what to do.
As soon as she saw her, Siena rushed to help her.
“It was raining out, and I was like, ‘OK, I can’t leave her out here,’” Siena told The Dodo.
The California woman stroked the kitten, letting her know that she was there for her. She scooped her up, gently bundled her in her shirt and brought her to her apartment.
She removed some of the crust around the kitten’s eyes and gave her some food.

The kitten accepted Siena’s help and trusted her right from the beginning. She felt safe. Since she was exhausted, the kitten quickly fell asleep.
After Siena talked to the workers of a nearby restaurant, she found out that they had seen her roaming around the area and crossing the street several days prior.
The workers wanted to help her, and tried to catch her, but they failed.
Siena’s heart broke when she heard that the kitten had been on her own for so long.
No Longer Homeless and Heartbroken

Although Siena wished she could help the kitten and give her a forever home, she knew that she couldn’t give her the attention that she deserved.
Siena worked as a tattoo artist and didn’t have much free time.
She started looking for someone who could take the kitten in and she soon found the right person.
Siena’s friend offered to foster the kitten, and she settled well into her foster home.
Her fosters showered her with love, and she snuggled with their cat and dog.

Before long, the kitten’s foster family realized that she belonged with them and they decided to adopt her, naming her Ashtray.
“She just looks very at home and happy with the other animals,” Siena added.
The kitten had a rough start, but thanks to Siena’s kindness and willingness to help, she found the happiness all pets yearn for.
Many thanks to Siena for stepping in to help Ashtray when she was alone and helpless.
