When Brooke Morosca traveled from Orlando, Florida to New Orleans to attend a concert, she couldn’t have imagined the surprises that were waiting for her.
On the day of the concert, she noticed a yellow Labrador lying on the street. She had no idea where she came from. There were no houses nearby.
The Labrador looked neglected. She had no collar and was infested with fleas.
The dog ran to her, wagging her tail, believing Morosca would help her.
At the time, the woman didn’t know, but she was in for another surprise.
Two Dogs In Need Of Help
The moment the Labrador ran to Morosca, a black dog appeared from the nearby bushes and began running to her, too. He was skinny and covered in fleas, as well.
“They were covered in fleas, and the black one was severely malnourished (30 Ibs to be exact),” Morosca shared on TikTok.
She was sad to see the two strays who were clearly in need of help.
As she walked towards her Airbnb, the dogs started following her. They felt safe in her company and didn’t want to leave her side.
The woman felt an undeniable bond with them as soon as she met them.
The two dogs stayed with Morosca and her friends for four days at the Airbnb.
They fed them and took care of them.
However, Morosca knew that she soon needed to return home and she didn’t want to leave the dogs on the street.
Both dogs warmed up to her and Morosca could tell that they only wanted affection. The black dog let her stroke him and the woman knew that he was meant to become her furry companion.
The kind woman reached out to the local shelter and asked them to keep both dogs until she figured out a long-term solution for them.
She was heartbroken when she needed to tell them goodbye, but she promised to come back for them.
Their Lives Change For The Better
In order to complete the mandatory stray hold, the dogs had to remain at the shelter for three days before being put up for adoption.
The shelter staff recognized the pair and told Morosca that they had been trying to take their owner to court and gain custody of the dogs.
Morosca returned home, and couldn’t stop thinking about the sweet dogs. She called the shelter every day and then on the third day, she found out that their owner came forward.
The process ended up being prolonged and Morosca felt guilty because the dogs remained at the shelter longer than she had anticipated.
Despite everything, she didn’t lose hope and kept believing that one day she would be reunited with her two furry friends.
Finally, four months later, that day arrived!
Morosca learned that the black dog, now named Rhysand, was up for adoption. The Labrador, named Crumpet, had been returned to her owner.
She picked up Rhysand and took him home.
While she was happy to finally have him by her side, she couldn’t stop thinking about Crumpet. She was sad because the doggo ended up with a neglectful owner.
The Joyful Reunion
However, the woman believed that she would help Crumpet as well and help her get a second chance at life.
Rhysand was glad to be at his forever home, but he missed his sister Crumpet and longed to have her by his side.
A few weeks later, when Morosca checked the shelter’s website, she was surprised to see Crumpet. She was available for adoption.
The woman immediately knew what to do. She drove to Louisiana to collect the adorable Labrador and bring her home.
Once Rhysand and Crumpet saw each other again, they couldn’t contain their excitement. They smiled and wagged their tails, happy to finally be together.
Since Crumpet has heartworm, Morosca took her to a friend’s house where she will stay until she recovers.
This giant-hearted woman isn’t sure whether she would be able to keep Crumpet because keeping two dogs is a big financial responsibility. But if she does need to find her another home, it will be with a trusted friend and the doggos will go on regular playdates.
Thanks to Morosca, the once sad and neglected dogs will have wonderful lives that they always dreamed of.
