We all know just how attached dogs are to their owners. Anyone who has ever had a dog knows that it’s a life-changing experience.
I know that whenever I went away for too long, my dog would always be delighted to see me, even if it was just for a couple of hours.
They just care about us that much. I can’t even imagine how hard it would be for a dog if his owner went away for a longer period of time.
Pups have no way of knowing if their owner will ever come back. They just have to hold out hope that it’s going to happen.
Something like this happened to an owner from Texas who had to surrender his pup for a few months.
A Heartwarming Reunion

For people who are struggling with addiction, it can sometimes be difficult to reach out for help. Even when they finally gather the strength to get into a rehabilitation program, there are hurdles.
Some owners tend to hesitate because they have pets and don’t have any way of taking care of them when they get into a program.
This can partially be a reason why some people end up not going, but there is always a solution and it comes in the form of the Dogs Matter sanctuary in Texas.
They are a non-profit organization that works on helping owners who are struggling with addiction by taking in their dogs and caring for them until the owner returns.

They usually take in dogs where the owner is away for 30 to 90 days and it works like foster care in many ways.
When Chris first surrendered his pup to Dogs Matter, it was a difficult decision, but he knew they could care for him.
It was a difficult two months for him without his buddy, but it was worth it. After the 60 days were over, Chris went back to reunite with his buddy, Chester.
When Chester saw his beloved owner, he couldn’t hold in his excitement. He just sprinted to him and gave him the biggest hug. It was an incredibly heartwarming reunion.
Wholesome Reactions

After witnessing this incredibly wholesome moment, the kind people from Dogs Matter decided to record it and post it on TikTok where it gained attention from other people.
One person commented: “This whole page makes me cry. This is amazing and I wish more states offered this to help people get to recovery without having to choose between their best friend or recovering.”
This is one of my favorite stories. It’s amazing to see people who are so empathetic and willing to help people in need.
Another person said: “What this organization is doing is beyond beautiful. So precious.”

It’s truly amazing and I couldn’t agree more. I just can’t imagine how comforting it was for the owner, knowing that his dog was in a good place while he was in rehabilitation.
Lastly, somebody commented: “Amazing organization doing great work!! Thank you!!”
Hopefully more videos like this will keep increasing their exposure, so more people will seek help from them.
It’s a lot easier when you know that there are people who will help you in some way or another, and I am just so glad to see that people like this exist. It always restores my faith in humanity.
