Witness This Chihuahua And Labrador’s Unique Offspring That Surprised Everyone

One of the first things you check before bringing a dog home is his breed. All of his most important characteristics are hidden in that one piece of information, which the dog brings with him to his new family.

One adopter did just that when he spotted a dog at a shelter in Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania. Although he was shocked when the employees told him which mix it was, he still couldn’t resist the fur fellow and decided to bring him home.

However, in the absence of information, he decided to share the photos of his new family member on Reddit, which caused numerous reactions.

“Chibrador”

The Reddit user, u/MichaelJMakowski, posted photos of his new and truly unique dog to r/rarepuppers on Monday, August 8, 2024.

“How rare is a Chihuahua/ black lab mix? Anyone ever have one?” he wrote in the title of the post.

The post soon caused many reactions as it quickly amassed numerous upvotes and a considerable number of comments.

Everyone was amazed by this little black dog that had floppy and folded-over ears like a Labrador and the stature of a Chihuahua.

“What a fine Chibrador you have,” one user stated while the other commented: “Super rare and super cute.”

One user even jokingly wrote: “For the sake of the mom, I hope the dad was the chihuahua 💀”

Some Redditors even believe that, given the dog’s appearance, one of his parents is a Pit Bull. The owner could neither confirm nor deny such a claim because he did not do DNA testing. He only stated that the animal rescue listed him as a Chihuahuador mix.

Very Unusual Breed

The owner said that through research, he discovered that this dog was originally rescued in Texas, and that his assumption is that the mother is a Labrador.

“From the research I have done, it seems that they got this breed through artificial insemination,” the owner said in his interview for Newsweek. “My guess would be that the mother would be the Lab.”

This is also confirmed by the Wag article, stating that this breed is “a cross between a female Labrador Retriever and a male Chihuahua,” and that “they’re bred via artificial insemination due to the parent breeds different sizes.”

Doing a bit deeper research about this breed reveals that they are small to medium-sized dogs. They can grow up to eight inches and weigh around 65 pounds.

Their life expectancy is 15 years and they are quite expensive dogs, reaching the price of around $1000. This is perhaps the best proof of how special a dog like this is.

Our furry fellows never cease to amaze us and this “Chibrador” is a living example.
