Sawyer is one little pup with a big hope.
After being rescued from a puppy mill with his littermates and brought to a Wisconsin shelter, he held on to the dream of finding a family. But then, one sibling was adopted. Then another. And another after that.
Before long, Sawyer was the only one left. His heart broke as he looked out from behind the bars, pleading for someone to finally see him.
What Sawyer didn’t realize was that something was waiting just ahead… he only had to be patient a little longer.
Left Out and Heartbroken
When Sawyer first arrived Elmbrook Humane Society in Wisconsin he was just a tiny pup who could fit inside a pocket. Shy and uncertain, he carried the weight of his past.
He had already faced more than enough in his short life. Born into a puppy mill, he was seen as nothing more than a number in a cruel system. Luckily, he was saved along with his brothers and sisters before being forced to “fulfill his purpose.”
But Sawyer’s struggle wasn’t over yet.
At the shelter, he was given love and care, yet his littermates slowly left one by one for forever homes.
He watched as they walked out, leaving him all alone. From his small enclosure, this little Cattle Dog begged for a chance, his sad eyes asking for someone to choose him.
Though overlooked, beneath his timid exterior was a sweet soul, a loyal companion, and a puppy who could give a family endless love.
“Sawyer is a shy but endearing puppy, still adjusting to life outside of the puppy mill where he came from. While he may be timid at first, his quiet, sweet personality hints at the loving companion he’s meant to be,” his Shelterluv profile reads.
Sawyer’s days were filled with waiting, hoping for his turn. And then one day, it finally came.
A Happy Turn of Events
In an update video shared by Elmbrook Humane Society, Sawyer is seen in the arms of his new family. After all that waiting, he had finally been chosen by wonderful adopters who promised him a life filled with love.
“Update: Sawyer is no longer sad, alone, or in a cone! Thank you to his new family for choosing to adopt and thank you to everyone who shared Sawyer’s story,” EHS stated in the video.
Now Sawyer will never again feel the sting of being left behind.
From this point on, his life will be about joy, laughter, and adventures with plenty of time outdoors, just as any Cattle Dog would love.
