A Gentle Stranger Seeks Help
Rachel Hague was assisting an injured dog when another unexpected visitor approached her.
She told GeoBeats Animals: “I was on a different case helping with a dog that had been injured and trying to help trap him… and Ellie came running up to my truck.”
The dog, later named Ellie, showed no hesitation in seeking help. Her demeanor was calm and trusting.
Covered in grime, crawling with fleas, and clearly malnourished, Ellie was in desperate need of care. Rachel didn’t hesitate and she took her straight to a veterinary clinic in Texas.
During the drive, Ellie drifted off to sleep, comforted by the safety Rachel provided.
A Hidden Reason Behind Her Urgency
At the clinic, the veterinary team conducted a full examination and uncovered something unexpected.
Ellie was pregnant and close to giving birth. Her urgency now made perfect sense. Thankfully, both she and her unborn puppies were stable.
She said: “My soul puppy had just passed away right before that at 19 years old. So, I had zero dogs at the time. I went from zero dogs to very quickly having Ellie and all of her babies.”
Once discharged, Ellie and her newborns went home with Rachel. Ellie embraced motherhood with devotion, never straying far from her pups.
