Whenever I see a dog sharing a moment with a mail carrier or delivery driver, I start wondering if dogs secretly have second lives with other people. Like they’ve got a “two-owner” thing going on!
These little traditions are both touching and oddly emotional. They make it feel like delivery drivers are part of the dogs’ extended family.
Same time every day, drop off a package, spend a few moments with the dog, hand over a treat or two, and off they go. What they build is a special kind of bond that sticks.
Texas UPS driver Chris Basker is a perfect example. He and his furry friend, Max, have shared this adorable routine for a long time, and their sweet hangouts are now all over the internet.
Let’s Go, Max
When Chris first saw Max near his truck, he didn’t quite know what was coming. The dog slowly climbed inside like he had a plan.
And he definitely did. Chris didn’t realize it at the time, but Max just wanted a quick cuddle break. The only catch? He didn’t want to leave.
Chris reached out to his family to ask what he should do. They told him to gently get the dog out, and even though he wasn’t sure how Max would respond, he followed their advice. Right after, Max gave him a huge kiss on the face.
From that point on, they had a routine. Max became a regular part of Chris’s delivery days.
Not long ago, Chris posted a video of Max hopping into the truck for his usual treat. He didn’t expect the sweet moment to blow up online.
“This is my friend Max and our daily delivery routine,” Chris captioned the video.
Soon enough, heartwarming reactions started pouring in.
“You better than me, i would’ve took the dog with me,” one person wrote.
“Tell his parents Max is starting a part time job. Duh,” another commenter joked.
“You cannot go until you pay the treat toll,” the third one added.
Best Workday Ever
Here’s one thing we know for sure: Chris, a dog lover with four pups of his own, has one of the best jobs out there. People often wonder how he keeps from getting completely sidetracked by all the furry love.
Lately, Max isn’t Chris’s only visitor. Recently, Max shared a video of his other visitor Sally too, and she recently had puppies. Now Chris is getting love from the whole dog family!
“Hey everyone! Meet Sally! She is another one of my daily favorites! She is such a sweet girl and recently had 4 pups that I may or not, get in playtime with them,” Chris wrote.
Chris really enjoys being like extended family to these dogs, and honestly, who wouldn’t? Doing a job you love while making new furry friends every day; hard to beat that.
