Can you imagine how difficult it would be to lose your beloved dog under mysterious circumstances? All the wondering and those endless questions that pop into your head while you try to figure out how to get him back?
Well, our furry little friends feel just as much sadness once they are cut off from their families. It is nearly impossible for them to understand why they were abandoned in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but a memory of what was once a happy home.
Just one week before the Fourth of July, Nugget, a small pup from Southern California, found himself on the street after his family abandoned him.
Despite being irrevocably left behind by his owners, the little dog remained loyal to the corner where he last saw them, until one day, everything changed for the better…
He Would Always Return To The Corner, No Matter What

He was new to the area, but little Nugget always found his way back to the intersection where his family had left him.
Not just once, but on multiple occasions, groups of compassionate neighbors attempted to help this tiny pup off the streets, yet he always managed to get away.
Still, by the end of each day, he would invariably return to that exact same corner, waiting for his family to come for him. Sadly, they never did.
Scared And Lonely, Seeking Food And Shelter

On the Fourth of July, when the fireworks began, little Nugget was so terrified that he ran away, but as soon as the noise stopped, he returned to his spot. It was as if he was finally making peace with the fact that his family was not returning.
Bit by bit, he began to understand that everyone around him was trying to help, not hurt him.
One day, he actually showed up at the door of a woman who had recently tried to aid him, as if he were begging for something to eat.

The woman, who owned cats, fed him, but the dog still would not come inside her house. She then called her friend, Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy in Irvine, California.
“He had to endure fireworks and people chasing him. He was so smart though, he knew where to go for food,” says Suzette.
Suzette Hall Knew What Had To Be Done

As soon as she drove to the location, she spotted Nugget in the very same place he was left. She set up a humane trap and lured him inside with some tasty treats, which worked like a charm!
After only a few minutes, Nugget was secure in a crate inside Hall’s van and they were headed to Camino Pet Hospital.

The little dog was cautious at first, but he soon relaxed when he realized that Hall and everyone at the hospital were actually his friends.
“Thankfully, we were able to get a trap out there. And, we finally got him safe. Tiny and scared, but he is rescued,” Suzette wrote on her Facebook.
He received a full check-up, and now he awaits the perfect owner among his caregivers. We cannot wait to see this Southern Californian beauty blossom in a new home with a family who will truly cherish his resilient and adorable spirit!
