When rescuers at Roadside Rescue Network, a rescue in Mississippi, noticed a garbage can outside their sanctuary, they rushed over to investigate.
Their hearts sank when they discovered tiny, defenseless babies piled on top of one another.
Since there was a really bad rainstorm, the eleven abandoned puppies were soaking wet and shivering.
The rescue team was shocked to realize the puppies could barely move. They were moments away from drowning – yet somehow, they had fought to stay alive.
Saving The Lives Of Defenseless Puppies

The rescuers quickly collected the puppies and rushed them to the vet. There was no time to waste.
Upon arriving at the vet, the weeks-old furbabies got a medical check and started receiving the urgent care they desperately needed.
Roadside Rescue Network and Fetch Dog Rescue, based in Connecticut, are partner organizations who work closely together.
So, when the rescuers found the eleven puppies, they reached out to Jessie Shaw, the cofounder of Fetch Dog Rescue, and informed her about the heartbreaking discovery.
Shaw was both devastated and determined to help the babies.
In the meantime, thanks to the life-saving care they were given, the puppies gradually improved and their caregivers could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
After staying at Roadside Rescue Network for a few weeks, the puppies made a full recovery and were ready to start looking for permanent homes.

Shaw was there to help them. She carefully screened potential adopters, making sure that each furbaby found the right family.
“I personally interviewed every single family that adopted them. And I did home visits with them to make sure that they were the perfect fit,” Jessie Shaw told The Dodo.
Thankfully, all puppies found their happily ever after.
The Happiness All Dogs Long For

Shaw hopes the story serves as a reminder of the importance of spaying and neutering. She also dreams of the day when local governments step in with laws that will put an end to heartbreaking cases like this.
The animal advocate is incredibly happy because the once-abandoned puppies got a second chance at life.

“There’s nothing better than that. It makes me feel so happy. It gives me the motivation to continue to keep going,” Shaw added.
We’re grateful to the wonderful people for saving the lives of helpless puppies who were moments away from drowning.
And we hope that all dog owners always have the dogs’ best interest in mind and that they take great care of them.
