I don’t like to say that dogs are spoiled. They’re nothing like cats.
But, most of our own dogs are spoiled as hell, whether we like to admit it or not.
Okay, I’ll admit for my dogs: they’re spoiled like crazy and too picky for pups that were once in a shelter. That’s on me. I made them that way and showered them with love, care, and presents all the time.
They have no idea how fortunate they are!
I hate to sound like my parents when I say: You don’t know what other dogs DON’T HAVE. Some don’t even have a yard!
As a dog regularly returned to the shelter, Bentley surely didn’t have a lot. He almost lost another family and was returned to the shelter for the fifth time. But, lucky for him, his new owner stepped in and took charge of ol’ Bentley.
She gave him everything: love, care, a family he always wanted, and even made one of his dreams come true.
Bentley’s Small Wish Comes True
Bentley, the Bloodhound, spent the first four years of his life going from one temp home to another. It seemed like no one wanted to take care of poor Bentley. In his short lifespan, he’s been through a lot.
If it wasn’t for KaTarra Taylor, his new owner and finally a person he could call mommy, God only knows where Bentley would have ended up.
Bentley went from one home to another because no one really had the time nor wanted to put in enough effort to understand this guy. He was declared as an aggressive hound, prone to emotional outbursts, destructive behavior, and anxiety attacks.
KaTarra’s parents were the family that owned Bentley before she did. The elderly couple couldn’t handle Bentley’s temperament. It was obvious that the dog would go back to their local shelter to find a new home.
But, that’s when KaTarra stepped in. She took Bentley home despite all the issues he had, and despite her troubling living arrangement.
At the time, KaTarra was living in a small city apartment. It was no place for a Bloodhound. It was too tiny, too stuffy, and too limiting for such a big dog. On top of everything, Bentley was also suffering from severe allergies and shouldn’t be locked up in a crowded space.
KaTarra came as an angel savior. She treated all of Bentley’s problems and even made his allergies much easier to handle.
However, things weren’t just rainbows and unicorns when Bentley moved in with KaTarra. She soon found out she has to move and find a bigger place for them to live. Could you believe there wasn’t a single free space in the city that was suitable for their needs?
That’s when KaTarra decided she had to move to the suburbs and buy a lovely townhouse. Both Bentley and KaTarra thrived with this decision. They got a lot more space and the ideal home they were looking for.
But, one thing was still missing, and KaTarra couldn’t put her finger on it.
That’s when it hit her: Bentley loves grass! He needs a grassy backyard!
Whenever the dynamic duo went for a walk, Bentley would lay down in the grass and simply enjoy himself. He apparently loves the smell of it as well as the sensational feeling against his skin.
With a lot of help from her boyfriend, KaTarra turned their concrete patio into a grassy backyard just for Bentley!

“Bentley immediately laid down and just stayed there for several hours. He seems so happy with it,” said KaTarra.
She gave Bentley not only something he truly wished for, but also a loving home he always deserved.
Bentley and KaTarra are living proof that everyone, despite the many flaws, deserves a brand new start.
