Some dogs come home with a neat little backstory, their age, breed, and details all spelled out. Then there are dogs like Bowie, who keep everyone guessing and bring a few surprises along with them.

The unknown pieces can make adoption feel even more special. It turns the whole experience into a bit of an adventure, and somehow gives a dog even more personality as they settle in.
That was exactly the case for Ginna Dufftt in Michigan.
Bowie had been labeled as a Corgi, and at first glance, that did not seem too far off. He had the short legs, the goofy expression, and enough of the look to make the label seem believable.
But there were a few things that did not quite add up.
He weighed thirty pounds, for one. And unlike the usual puppy whirlwind, Bowie did not have that typical burst of nonstop energy.
Eventually, curiosity took over.
His family decided it was time to get real answers, so they turned to a DNA test. They hoped it would finally explain the truth behind the dog they lovingly called their silliest-looking mix.
A Corgi Or Something Else?
When Gina and her family adopted Bowie from Bottle Babies Rescue in Michigan, they were told he was a Corgi around four months old.
Once he arrived home, Gina immediately noticed something different about his appearance. His short legs and solid build gave him a Corgi-like shape, but the floppy ears and serious facial expression were unexpected.
Something clearly did not match the typical breed features she had anticipated.
“We just adopted this handsome man from a local foster rescue! We were told he’s a corgi and 4 months old. Hes about 30 lbs. He’s the silliest mix of dogs we’ve ever seen.. what breeds do you all think are lurking in there? He’s super chill, real low to the ground, and has literally none puppy energy,” Gina shared on Facebook.
Although Bowie quickly settled in as a loved member of the household, his family still wanted answers. A DNA test seemed like the only reliable way to finally learn what breeds made up their unusual looking pup.
For now, Bowie remains a charming mystery, and his family is waiting patiently for the results.
The Life Of Mr. Bowie Pants
Originally named Mr. Pants, Gina explains that his full name is now Mr. Bowie Pants, a title that suits his personality perfectly.
Updates on Bowie’s Instagram page show him adjusting wonderfully to life in his new home. He enjoys relaxing around the house, spending time with his family, and showing off his calm and gentle nature.
In one post, the family revealed that Bowie is older than they first believed.
“Bowie is a bit older than we thought! The rescue reported him around 4 months.. first vet visit revealed that he’s probably closer to 8 or 9 months,” the family shared.
Despite the mix up about both his breed and his age, Bowie is thriving. His Instagram posts show him lounging in sunny spots, exploring the yard, and posing for cute pictures that highlight his mellow attitude.
Every update captures Bowie’s peaceful and easygoing style.
Even though the rescue may have given the family an unexpected “Corgi,” Bowie has proven to be entirely unique. Whatever his DNA test results reveal, his delightful personality will remain the same.
