Dogs are well known for their intense curiosity and their habit of exploring every new space they find.
This curiosity can sometimes create problems, as some dogs get lost or trapped in unfamiliar areas, causing many complications.
In this story, we follow a dog who became stuck inside an abandoned house for a period before rescuers arrived.
Poor Dog Is Trapped
When Stray Rescue of St. Louis received a call about a dog living in an abandoned house, they knew that he needed help.
His rescuers got in the car and were on the scene in no time. The old building he was staying in was completely wrecked and it was hard to move in it.
They were looking for the dog, but they couldn’t find him at first, so they went outside and then saw him peeking from a basement inside the house.
The rescuer realized that the basement stairs were missing, leaving the dog no way to climb up.
The dog had likely been trapped for an unknown amount of time, waiting for someone to come to his aid.
When his rescuer finally approached, the dog’s excitement was evident. He recognized that someone was there to help him.
A Safe Way Out
The team had to plan carefully to extract him safely.
One rescuer climbed down into the basement and secured a leash around the dog. He tolerated it but hesitated to move, unsure how to leave.
The rescuer lifted him in his arms and helped him climb out of the basement. Once free, they carried him to the vehicle.
The dog’s demeanor shifted immediately, as if the burden of being trapped had vanished.
He was transported back to the St. Louis shelter for full medical attention. The team reported that he was healthy and on the path to recovery.
While it is unclear if he has been adopted, he is safe and well, and there is little doubt that he is now in a loving home.
