Working in rescue can be a hard job, especially knowing that the shelter you represent is often filled with dogs already.
That means you can’t bring in every pup you see wandering the streets, and it can be heartbreaking to watch them survive alone day after day.
At the very least, rescuers try to feed the strays until space opens up at the shelter, and honestly, that small act makes such a big difference.
This sweet dog had that very experience when he was discovered by the caring team at Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
A Bond That Grows
Life on the streets was rough for Turducken, but he never lost hope. He always greeted people with a cheerful spirit, and that made him stand out.
When the rescuers from Stray Rescue of St. Louis first came across him, they were amazed at how kind he was.
One rescuer, Donna, wanted nothing more than to help him, but she knew their shelter had no space left. Turducken would have to wait for his turn.
In the meantime, she made sure to bring him food whenever possible so he wouldn’t have to feel hunger again. Every visit strengthened their connection, and she adored this gentle pup.
Whenever she showed up with food, he welcomed her with joy, and the bond they shared grew quickly. Donna was eager for the day she could finally bring him to safety.
When that moment arrived, she rushed straight to the spot where he always waited.
A New Beginning At The Shelter
Just like always, Turducken lit up when he saw Donna, but this time was different. She knew immediately that he would thrive among the other dogs at the shelter.
She captured the entire moment on video and shared it online, hoping it would help him get noticed and bring him closer to finding a loving home.
He was such a sweet boy. After spending some time together outside, she finally brought him in, and now he had a warm bed and a safe place to rest.
Everyone is hopeful that it won’t take long for Turducken to find his forever home, given his gentle and kind personality, and I have to agree.
For now, Donna and the team will look for a foster home where he can adjust to living indoors, before beginning the search for a permanent family.
Although we don’t yet know the rest of Turducken’s journey, it feels certain that a pup this loving will soon find a family of his own. He truly deserves the very best.
