When Aria and Grace Keilbach, sisters from Colorado, moved to the island of Saipan years ago, little did they know their lives would change forever.
They arrived to prevent the harsh treatment of boonie dogs. What they didn’t know was that over the years, they’d help hundreds of four-legged furballs start over and begin their lives in new homes.
Among them was Mango, a stray nursing mama whom they found on the road with no puppies in sight. As they tried to secure her, they realized Mango was trying to communicate something to them. The next day, they found out what – and it left them shocked.
Furry Surprise Waiting In Bushes
Mango was a sweet dog right off the bat. Although stray, malnourished, and clearly with a rough past, she willingly entered a humane trap that Aria, the founder of Boonie Babies rescue in Saipan, and her friends, set up near the jungle road.
Upon realizing Mango was a nursing mom, the rescuers scoped the area a little further, trying to exclude the possibility of her puppies being near. When they didn’t find any, they left and brought Mango into their facility.
However, Mango had her own story to tell.
In the shelter, she didn’t stop nagging Aria, as if she were trying to say something to her. And, Aria made a pretty good guess!
They went back to the rescue spot, only to hear loud yelping sounds in the jungle. As it turned out, those were Mango’s babies! They were carefully hidden deep in the woods by their mama, who made sure to keep them away from danger.
“This super sweet mama found dumped on Lau Lau road had an amazing rescue journey in which she led us to her puppies hidden in the jungle,” Boonie Babies wrote on Instagram.
Eventually, the rescuers located two puppies almost buried in the ground.
“We were in it, trudging through, ripping branches apart. She was right in the section that we were and just burrowed literally almost underground,” Aria told The Dodo.
Mango couldn’t be happier. She was reunited with her little family, and now all three of them were finally safe!
Caring Mom, Adorable Companion
What initially started as a rescue mission turned out to be so much more! Mango, meeting new friends at the shelter, blossomed into a caring mother, not only to her puppies but to others, too.
Sadly, one of her puppies didn’t make it, leaving Mango with only one, later named Tequila. But, that’s when she did something extraordinary! Mango decided to embrace three more orphaned puppies into her litter, showing how truly sweet she was.
“Along with having an amazing temperament with people, kids, and other dogs, she even adopted 3 orphaned puppies into her litter,” the rescue added.
She nursed an entire litter and completely came out of her shell, soaking up all the beauty of a life filled with joy, happiness, and care. She transformed into an ideal adoption candidate – and that’s when things truly started to go her way.
“Mango is available for adoption anytime, she’s been an amazing mama but it’s time for her to get her own happy ending and attention,” Boonie Babies concluded.
She received applications from several amazing families who wanted to give her a forever home. Eventually, Mango settled into one, and it turned out to be perfect, both for her and Tequila.
She and her puppy were adopted by two sisters and now get to spend a lifetime of happiness going on playdates, exciting walkies, and endless adventures. After all the hardships in her life, Mango’s life has finally taken a positive turn!
