Stray Dog In Wisconsin Finds Safety After Leaving A ‘Please Help’ Note On Her Collar

A heartwarming moment in Platteville, Wisconsin, highlights the ongoing issue of abandoned and stray dogs desperately in need of help and care.

Sadly, many pets are left to fend for themselves, each with a unique story and often emotional scars.

Lola, one such dog, took matters into her own paws and seized the opportunity for safety in a way that no one could forget.

“Take Me To A Shelter…”

The Platteville Police Department (PPD) in Wisconsin recently shared the story of a dog found abandoned in their community.

While responding to stray animal calls is part of an officer’s routine, this case stood out for one striking reason.

When the officer arrived at Mound View Park and Campground, the dog did not hesitate. She immediately trotted over and jumped right into the police vehicle.

“This sweet girl came right over to the officer and jumped in the squad,” the department shared on Facebook.

But what caught the officer’s attention next was even more concerning. Around the dog’s pink collar, a small note was attached.

“Upon further inspection, the officer discovered this note attached to the pink collar the dog was wearing,” the post continued.

The handwritten message read:

“Please help. Take me to a shelter. My name is LOLA.”

Seeing those words and gazing at the dog’s gentle face was heartbreaking for the officer.

It was clear she had been abandoned, which, in Platteville, is against city ordinance.

A Heartfelt Update

“We are asking for the public’s assistance in finding Lola’s original ‘owners’. We would like to speak with them. Thank you in advance,” the police department stated.

Lola’s story spread quickly, touching people far beyond Wisconsin. Many questioned how anyone could abandon such a kind and sweet dog.

As the PPD continued their investigation, Lola was taken to the Platteville Veterinary Clinic, where the staff began looking for a permanent home for her.

Her wait was brief. Just a week later, wonderful news came.

Both the police department and the vet clinic announced that Lola had found her forever family and had been officially adopted.

To Lola, may your future be filled with all the love and happiness you deserve, and may you never again know the pain of abandonment.

At the time of writing, no further information about the investigation into Lola’s former owner has been released.
