No dog deserves to live a life without proper shelter, yet many of these four-legged lovebugs never get a fighting chance.
Living in horrible conditions, with no food and shelter, Sadie, a stray dog momma, gave birth to seven babies. She was absolutely desperate for some help, as she, herself, couldn’t take care of her puppies alone.
When she was first found, Sadie was tied with a short chain. Her babies, sadly, were doing much worse than expected.
Sadie’s Tragic Story
When the group of volunteers of a local rescue heard there was a female dog with a litter in need, they immediately rushed into action. They arrived at the spot within minutes, but sadly, their worst fears came true.
The vet, Denisa, confirmed that four of her puppies had already crossed the rainbow bridge. There were now only two girls and one boi left with their momma, and they needed urgent help in order to survive.
The rescuers immediately brought them to their facility and started the recovery process.
Both Sadie and her pups were extremely emaciated. They needed care around the clock for some time, as they were evidently still too weak. Their history is still quite vague, but the rescuers assume their mom was abandoned and left by someone.
Fortunately, for the first time in their life, Sadie and her babies felt the warmth of a cozy shelter.
“Tonight for the first time in their lives they are warm and safe, in a clean room with a cozy bed, food and water by their sides, listening to relaxing music,” the rescue wrote on Facebook.
The Road To Recovery
It took this momma dog around a month to completely come out of her shell. She already felt so much better with the care her rescuers provided, and she definitely regained some of her lost weight.
Sadly, one of her three pups didn’t make it along the way, and now Sadie was left with only two babies – the boy, Treacle, and the girl, Toffee, who turned out to be blind, and they needed special care.
“Toffee and Treacle along with their mum have beaten the odds and grown into happy, healthy pups… But sadly for this sweet family the news isn’t good … It has now become clear both Toffee and Treacle are completely blind,” they wrote on Facebook.
Despite being devastated by the loss of her puppies, Sadie never stopped fighting. She preserved her life sparkle and kept thriving for Treacle and Toffee.
Within months, the three completely recovered and turned into happy dogs. Despite their disability, Treacle and Toffee did amazingly, and soon learned how to live with their condition.
Their caregivers were extremely grateful for being able to save these pups, who have now turned out to be the bounciest, tail-wagging sweethearts!
Sadie, Toffee, and Treacle are doing great today. They are finally in a safe place, far away from the horrible conditions they once had to deal with.
They learned how to socialize with other people and dogs, and they just love spending their time outside. The trio is now in the process of finding their forever home, but their rescuers have no doubt that the right hoomans will show up.
