For the staff at one Oregon doggy daycare, one of those memorable moments came in the form of a yellow Lab named Butters, who had spent the day on a grand adventure and could barely keep himself awake by the end of it.
Butters Fights Off Sleep
At Dog’s Hideaway in Oregon, the daycare team had let the dogs out for a big play session. The yard was full of wagging tails, zoomies, and happy barks as the pups enjoyed every second of their time together.
Butters, normally one of the most energetic in the group, had clearly made the most of his day. After hours of running around, his energy reserves were running dangerously low.
But instead of taking a break like some of his friends, Butters was determined to stay in the middle of the action.
His body, however, had other plans. His eyelids grew heavier and heavier until it seemed like he might actually fall asleep while standing. Still, he resisted, swaying slightly but unwilling to miss a single moment of fun.
For a pup, this is the ultimate sign of a day well spent — tired to the point of nodding off, yet completely happy.
One of the daycare workers noticed the hilarious scene and quickly grabbed a phone, capturing the moment Butters fought off sleep.

The clip made its way to Dog’s Hideaway’s Instagram, and before long, the internet had fallen for the sleepy yellow Lab. The video racked up views and comments, with people both amused and touched by the scene.

It’s true — Butters could have curled up somewhere cozy to rest, but instead, he stayed out with his friends, refusing to give in to his exhaustion.

Honestly, I didn’t even know dogs could do this — dozing while upright. My own pup loved a good playdate, but I don’t recall him ever getting quite this tired.
