When you love your hoomans, saying goodbye is never easy. That’s certainly how Hunty would describe it if he could talk.
This lovable New Jersey Shepherd mix is completely devoted to his parents, Sara and Ryan. But one day, they had to leave him behind for a little while. Even though it wasn’t long, Hunty missed them terribly.
He spent eleven days apart from them, holding out for the moment he could see them again. But when that long-awaited day arrived, Hunty had no clue his mom and dad were about to surprise him in the sweetest way.
Hunty Thought He Was Still Dreaming
Calling Hunty a good boy hardly does him justice. Even with his separation anxiety, he got through the time apart from Sara and Ryan. Each night, he fell asleep hoping that soon he’d be able to greet them with a kiss on the nose.
One night, that wish came true.
Sara and Ryan came home from their trip and quietly made their way into the room where Hunty was napping. It was already 11:30 p.m., so their pup definitely wasn’t expecting visitors.
They gently woke him up, and his reaction was pure love mode.
“It’s 11:30 P.M. and you get woken up by your mom and dad to go home after 11 days of not seeing them,” they wrote in the video.
At first, Hunty looked stunned and unsure of what was happening.
“Pretty sure he thought he was dreaming because he seemed rattled,” his owners wrote.
But that dazed look didn’t last for long.
Once it clicked that he wasn’t dreaming, Hunty’s tail started wagging furiously. He jumped up to greet them with nonstop kisses and snuggled into his dad’s lap like no time had passed.
Eleven days had felt like forever, but now it was finally over.
He’s Involved In Everything They Do
Besides being the best boy ever, Hunty plays a big role in his family’s daily life.
He tags along with Sara and Ryan everywhere they go. It’s safe to say that Hunty is part of every aspect of their lives, including the most meaningful ones.
He was even included in Sara and Ryan’s wedding. Having Hunty there made the day even more memorable and special.
Though he’s a rescue pup, Sara and Ryan often joke that he’s truly their child.
“I don’t think non-pet owners really get it. This is not just the dog. This is my son,” she says in a TikTok video.
Hunty thrives as a member of the family. He enjoys his New Jersey home, takes daily walks, socializes with their friends, visits the beach, and joins them on adventures near and far.
Being with his mom and dad is everything to Hunty, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
