Back when Ruby was just a puppy, she was brought to a shelter in Arizona.
The sweet gray-and-white Pit Bull mix held onto hope that she would soon meet a family who would give her the home she had always dreamed of.
It wasn’t long before Ruby caught the attention of a family who chose to adopt her.
The shelter team gave her goodbye kisses and wished her well as she headed to her new life.
A couple of years later, the staff was surprised when Ruby showed up at the shelter again.
Her Former Family Never Came For Her
Ruby’s old friends at the shelter became concerned about her. She seemed heartbroken and clearly missed the family she once had.
The staff reached out to her previous owners, but they never came to bring her back.
Just like that, Ruby’s dream had vanished.
Returning to the shelter was tough on her. She waited, hopeful, thinking her family might still come for her.
As more time passed, Ruby slowly came to understand that they weren’t going to return.
The staff recognized how let down she felt. They comforted her and gave her lots of affection.
Ruby appreciated her friends for being there during such a difficult time. She returned their love with plenty of cuddles.
The Arizona shelter hoped that visitors would see her kind heart and give her what she longed for most—a forever home.
She Finds Her Forever Dad
Thankfully, after a few weeks at the shelter, something amazing happened.
A gentle man saw Ruby and immediately felt connected to her. He filled out the adoption forms and waited for approval.
As soon as he learned that everything had gone through, Ruby’s new dad rushed to the shelter to bring her home.
When she saw him, she was overwhelmed with excitement.
As he knelt down and told her he was her new dad, Ruby smothered his face with kisses and rolled onto her back for belly rubs.
Once he gave her plenty of snuggles, she stood up on her back legs and leapt into his arms. She finally felt like she had found her person.
Ruby’s new dad couldn’t stop smiling when he saw how joyful and affectionate she was.
The shelter team was in tears as they watched one of the happiest moments in her life.
