North Carolina Shelter Staff Are Heartbroken When This Pup Was Sent Back To Shelter Twice For Being ‘Too Playful’

I have seen people surrender their dogs many times for absolutely ridiculous reasons, but at the very least, they have given them a chance with someone else.

Sometimes, an owner and a dog are just not compatible, and the best option in that case would be to let the dog take his chances elsewhere.

However, that is not the case for most people. A lot of them will take in a dog even though they don’t really like them, only to surrender them later for some reason.

This sweet pup from North Carolina had two chances at a better life, but everything went sideways for him when he was surrendered to a shelter for the second time.

Surrendered For Being ‘Too Friendly’

Well, I’ll admit, I have never seen a case like this. When DJ first came into the SPCA of Wake County, he was actually transferred from another rescue organization.

Nobody really knew much about his past, but one thing was clear: he was a very lovable goofball who just wanted to make friends with everyone.

The staff love taking him outside to play and relax in the kiddie pool because he’s just very friendly. It also helps him to cool down when it’s hot outside.

At first, rescuers thought that it wouldn’t take a long time for them to find a home for DJ, but they were actually wrong about that.

His first adoption was officially signed, and it didn’t quite go according to plan. His owners returned him almost immediately.

The reason? They couldn’t manage his energy and friendliness. This was heartbreaking to hear because you wouldn’t expect something like this to happen.

However, DJ would get another chance very soon after that, and that also went badly. Apparently, he wanted to make friends with his new cat siblings, but they were having none of that.

Third Time’s A Charm

The owners who have had cats for a long time already thought that it was probably best for them to return DJ to the shelter because they wouldn’t get along.

This time, the rescuers were just baffled, and they couldn’t help but feel bad for this sweet pup. Imagine getting surrendered twice for just being sweet and playful.

It was a nightmare scenario, so the rescuers now had to change their strategy. None of this stuck around with DJ. He was still just as sweet as ever.

The rescuers hoped that he would have more luck the third time around, so they were able to find a new family for him.

Things were different now because his new owners already had three dogs, so DJ would have plenty of friends in his new home, and they all welcomed him with open arms.

The rescuers already explained how playful DJ was beforehand, and they told him that it wasn’t an issue at all. He’ll be just fine with them.

When the rescue posted DJ’s story on their Facebook account, everyone was relieved that he had finally found kind people who loved him.
