California Shelter In Tears Over Why This 9-Year-Old Dog Was Surrendered By Her Family

California Shelter In Tears Over Why This 9-Year-Old Dog Was Surrendered By Her Family

Even after years of a wonderful life in a loving home, some doggos still do not get their happily ever after. The reasons are numerous: health issues, allergies, welcoming a new baby into the family, or simply a loss of interest.

The reason for Nala’s family, however, was truly heartbreaking.

Recently, her owners surrendered her to a California shelter, and Nala couldn’t be more devastated. She was sitting all alone in a tiny kennel next to a plushie and a blanket, hoping her nightmare would soon be a thing of the past.

Sadly, that didn’t happen.

Heartbreaking Reason

Jackie Gonzales, one of the volunteers at the Valley Animal Center in Fresno, California, is no stranger to seeing dogs being abandoned by their families.

However, the video she recently shared on TikTok broke thousands of hearts. It includes the dog, Nala, almost completely shutting down in the kennel after her owners left her there.

The reason they listed broke everyone’s hearts: they were moving, and Nala couldn’t go with them.

The heartbreaking post showcased Nala, an eight-year-old Staffordshire Terrier, sitting all alone in her kennel, with no one around, wistfully peeking through the kennel window.

With only a plush toy and a blanket next to her, the sight of Nala soon left the entire internet in tears.

People reached out to the post, expressing their solidarity with the dog and hoping that she would soon find her forever home.

“This is devastating. I hope she’s adopted soon.. my heart is broken for her.. I hate stories like this,” one person wrote.

“She’s an old lady she deserves to live her days out being loved,” another added.

Nala Looking For A Second Chance

According to her caregivers, Nala was adopted three years ago as a “great dog who loves human affection.” She’s definitely adoption material and not at all a dog that deserves to be overlooked.

“Nala is an 8-year-old Staffordshire Terrier that was adopted back in 2021, but was returned back into our care. She isn’t too fond of other dogs, but she is a great dog who loves human affection,” her Petfinder profile reads.

While she isn’t exactly in her prime, this senior pup could be a great addition to a family who loves low-key activities. Nala adores taking cozy naps on the couch, a quiet life and taking things slow.

However, she doesn’t mind having a long walkie in the park, either.

“If you’re looking for a couch potato who still loves a long walk in the park, please choose Nala. Seniors deserve a quiet life outside of the shelter setting and we hope her adorable face will stand out to you,” the description concludes.

Hopefully, Nala’s nightmare will soon come to an end. She’s a wonderful dog who truly deserves to spend the autumn of her life in a loving home, surrounded by people who understand her needs.

Good luck, sweet girl!
