Nothing causes more fear in dogs than the unknown. One moment, they’re living a peaceful life with their owner, and the next, they’re suddenly alone.
Some owners abandon their pets in remote areas, while others leave them behind at shelters.
The saddest part is, the dog often has no idea why. In their mind, their person might have just stepped out to run errands.
Many dogs keep waiting, believing their owner will return. But that’s not usually the case.
In the case of these two older dogs, the situation was even more difficult. Their owner passed away, and they ended up at a shelter—completely lost and confused.
They Lost The Life They Knew

Hollywood and Jackson had enjoyed many years with their owner in a loving home. But when tragedy struck, their lives were flipped upside down.
The team at Humane Society Naples, in Florida tried to make them feel comfortable after such a devastating loss.
These two pups had never imagined they would be living in a shelter kennel. Their lives had been filled with love, and they didn’t understand what had gone wrong.

They grow more lonely with each passing day. The only comfort they have is each other.
To make things worse, this wasn’t the first time they had lost a home. Their previous owner had also passed away.
And now, once again, they’re left with an uncertain future, this time with no estate plan in place to protect them.
They Belong Together

Now they wait in the shelter until a new family is found. At least they still have each other through this heartbreak.
Thankfully, the staff has kept them together, hoping someone will adopt them as a pair. It’s a difficult goal, but separating them after so long would be heartbreaking.
They’ve shared a lifetime of memories and grown old side by side. Being together is all they’ve ever known.
Although age has slowed them down, they still enjoy playtime. Their legs may not work like they once did, but their spirits remain high.

They still chase chances to play with each other or greet visitors. Their health isn’t perfect, but they’re holding on.
Hollywood is currently battling cancer, but there’s hope that he’ll get better.
Even with all the hardship they’re facing, there’s still hope these seniors can find peace and comfort in their golden years. They deserve nothing less.
